I'm seeing a blue cape and a pouch-style utility belt. So... comic book version? Talk about a whole plethora of vehicles, scenes, and characters to work with. Very Happy

And before anyone asks, I'm definitely seeing flesh tone.

Do a search for "Batman", it's only the second entry from the top...

I've had a number of emails and IMs about this - yes, the image is legit.

And despite Jake confirming that it's "legit", shouldn't this be considered leaked information?

It's 'legit' enough, apparently. Ace says "it's okay to discuss" ... not that there's much to discuss !

So much for staying away from licenses... Rolling Eyes

I dunno, I'm on the fence for this one. Batman + LEGO is cool, without a doubt, but I'm getting tired of LEGO saying one thing and doing another.

I am ESTATIC!

When I saw those C3 DC Universe "construction toys" I was so disappointed, especially by those "Kubrick" figures that I've never liked.

With official LEGO Batman based mini-figs, my life will be complete. Even more complete if LEGO does the whole DCU.

My mind is telling me to calm down until this is "officially" confirmed by some statement from LEGO or actual set pics, but my wallet is telling me to buy it NOW!

Guess my wallet will have to wait till 2006 before being flung open to pull out the cash for my Batman sets, to bad I can't wait.

Now would be a good time for LEGO to jump on the DCU train. With Batman Begins and it's sure-to-be sequel as well as Superman Returns movie in 2006, there will be a lot of hype that the LEGO DCU line could cash in on.

Nice. I was sad when they lost the license for Spider-Man 3, but now I'm glad again. Batman's cooler than Spider-Man, anyway. I'm hoping they got the rights to comic Batman rather than the movies.

Things are looking up.

It looks like the same CG style as the "Revenge of the Brick" short film.

If it's just a Batman-themed CG animation: cool.
If this becomes a new line.. well...I loves me some Batman but I'm not thrilled at all with the prospect of a Batman Lego theme.

Do you guys not get it?? LEGO never said they would stop getting licenses. How many times do I have to say this? They said they weren't going to focus on getting licenses. That doesn't mean giving them up all together.

I don't think they ever said that they were "staying away from licenses" ... IIRC they said that they were going to be more careful about taking them on. Which can mean a number of things - it might just have mean that they would push harder to make the terms from the licensee more profitable to LEGO. Smile

I'm thrilled to hear about this. It has been rumored for a while, but it's nice to see some confirmation. I can't wait to add Batman minifigs to my LEGO collection. Smile

I'm also very excited about this line. Funny I was just thinking about making some Batman Begins customs but it looks like I'm sort of covered. I wonder how they'll do this: based on movies, comics, or television series?

As I said before Rolling Eyes, based on the Batman minifig's appearance, it's looking very much like it'll be comic-oriented.

I hope he's not blue and grey. Black and grey is what I want.

If there is blue, that opens speculation about what the license is actually for. I mean, LEGO got the license for Spider-man 1 and 2, but MegaBloks had what appeared to be a general Marvel license that let them also make Spider-man sets. If Bats here contains blue or in other ways is meant to represent the comic books, I wonder if that means LEGO got a general DC license? That could be awesome. The alternative (which makes me cry Razz): it's a Batman movie license, and they're gonna change his costume in the next film. GAH! (If they make him blue and grey in the films, I'm gonna' scream. A bad, upset scream -- not a happy little girl scream, like I usually do...a lot, at cool things. Razz)

DC license...Captain Marvel! Very Happy

Nah, they won't change his costume for the next movie. I'm absolutely positive that this is a comic book deal.

Whether it's Batman or DCU in general? I'm expecting it to be just Batman, but I'm praying it won't stop there. The possibilities are freakin' endless. Heck, Mike, maybe they'll find a way to bring your Green Lantern set into the mix. Wink

Sorry? You know, Batman had the Black on Yellow insignia in the TV Animated series too right? Not everyone is a Batman enthusiast.

What I call a 'good line' is one the expect people to make Mocs of. I see.. "Han and Luke in Cell Block" not "Jameson reads Newspaper and gloats" or "Batman goes 'woe is me, i'm so dark and meeeannn'" atleast Harry Potter had MOC potential.

Yes! Maybe they could get Jeff Victor to draw them, that'd be COOL!

Yes, Jeff Victor is the PERFECT choice.

Meanwhile, I think that Batman has TONS of MOC potential. I mean, how many versions of the Batmobile are there? Lots! So you could make a 40's comic version, a TV show version, a movie version, a new movie "tumbler" version... there's no real "definitive" version of the Batmobie. However there IS a definitive version of an X-Wing... so when people make MOC X-Wings, they're maybe going for accuracy. However with a Batmobile, you can be creative in a different way. I, personally, want a FLEET of Batmobies, like they show sometimes in the comics (like Jim Lee did in an issue of The Hush storyline, for instance). Spider-Man is a little more limited, because there's not really any vehicles for Spider-Man, and we only have two villains. If Batman gives us lots of villains, then you can make all sorts of vehilcles or hideouts or death-traps for them.
