The challenge should you decide to accept it is to build a diorama depicting a scene/s from any of the six SW Episodes. Please read the following rules for this contest as failure to do so will result in your submission being disqualified and removed from this thread.

4) Contest begins October 1 through November 30, 2005. Entries must be posted before midnight of November 30 to be eligible for the prizes.

5) Judgment of the entries will be the sole responsibility of my sons and I. Winning entries will be posted on December 5, 2005.

Oh goodie! Great contest Ac! Very Happy

I don't know If it's just me, But I don't think many people have 48x48 plates, and I think it would be easier if It was 32x32... Smile Just throwing it out there. Confused

You don't have to beat his dios Rolling Eyes

AC, one question, does it have to be on a 48x48 baseplate or can you use a smaller one/one joined with several baseplates that make up a 48x48 space?

Thanks, and good luck with your contest!

One more question.... is it a "static" diorama, or can my 12 pictures have the figs in different poses, kind of telling a story?

They're just examples (not entries to the contest) to give you an idea of the possibilities for creating an entry to this contest.

You can use different sized baseplates just as long as the footprint totals 48x48 studs if you don't have the large baseplate. The 32x32 limits the type of scenes that can be done especially if you want to do a battle scene. It's really up to you to build a dio that only utilizes a portion of the baseplate but that can also limit your chances of winning.

Yes as I've responded above.

It's up to you though we're not looking for a story line per se. Much more interested in one diorama that has multiple scenes going on as in this one.

Can we use custom figs? I was thinking that if I was to do a jedi council theme Id need to mold some custom Jedi masters. And should we tell you what the scene/episode is?

I'd assume Bobba's old one. Smile

I finished my dio, but I'm gonna tweak it a bunch before turning it in... Smile

You can answer that question about the slave 1 by searching the set number given. Anyway this sounds very interesting and i will give it a shot if I am not overwhelmed by school work but i can't guarantee that.

Ah what the heck. I'll be going for a much toned-down DSII Emperor's Shuttle scene.

Are we allowed to PM people and show them the progress on our Diorama? Or is that called an unfair advantage?

~John

P.S. I'm having SOOOO much fun building this diorama, thanks so much for this contest AC!

Custom figs are a plus only if your dio has the attributes we're looking for. So don't spend too much time on the minifigs.

You may want to keep it under wraps until you're ready to submit it or just in case you change your mind about it.

luke1080 wrote:

Boba Fett's old Slave I.

Mirage wrote:

I'm hoping that the prizes should be a good incentive for you to do one. Plus there's quite a lot of time for you to build one.

Every little detail counts and I'd like to see how yours turn out.

If you want to show a WIP, do so at the MOC section. Remember that it becomes only an official entry once you post it here.

Just wanted to drop in and say thanks, AC. This is a terrific contest! I've never been a huge fan of dioramas, but I definately think I'll have a go at this one.

OH! It's ending November 11! I somehow thought it was October 11th.

Anywhoo, I found a good old grey baseplate and I'll be doing The Death Star I scene(s) in diorama form. NOT the Emperors arrival Wink

Will you allow a computer-generated custom minifig placed into the camera shot if we aren't able to fabricate the actual minifigure? For example: Grievous' Magnaguards who have a different torso.

And yes, I am very serious about this question.

What's with everybody sharing their ideas on what they are building? Keep it to yourselves people, so that noone recreates your scene better than you.

What is the rush to post? There's still plenty of time to build on this before submitting it as an official entry.

No, I'm also serious about this answer. The objective of this contest is all about the diorama whence you should spend more time building it.

Device64 wrote:

Your diorama can occupy a smaller space but you should still build it to have the 48x48 footprint.

I hope this is ok ... if not, let me know and I'll sort out another link to the photos Smile

Please read the rules 1 and 2 so that you can make the necessary mods to your MOC for it to be accepted as an official entry.

Device64 wrote:

It has to be a scene from the movies. The Felucian scout patrol was just shown as an example for its size and can easily be modified to show an actual scene.

AC

Please refrain from commenting on the submissions or your ideas for your own entries, do so in the MOCs section if you'd like to discuss them there. I'd like to keep this thread purely for the submitted entries. PM me for specific questions other than the footprint size.
