Contest:

Ok I'm thinking that if anyone enters, we should get some great and original entries. Ok here are the rules.

1. Build a minifig size MOC New Republic star fighter. An MOC fighter would be an original spaceship design by yourself.

2. Contest starts today and ends Oct. 25, 2005

3. One entry per contestant (if you wish to change your entry, you may delete your first submission)

4. Try and take clear pictures of your creation, It's not fun to judge something you can't see.

5. Color scheme doesn't matter, Heck, whats wrong with a rainbow fighter? (although it probably would help if your ship has a basic color scheme)

6. Minifig must be able to fit in cockpit.

7. Link only to Photo-hosting sites, do not imbed images.

8. I'd love to see a lot of entries, so don't be shy, get out your LEGO and start building!

9. Use Only official LEGOŽ bricks no changing them in ANY way.

10. Let's try not to spam up this topic too much, I'd advise contestants to also post their Ships in the SW Moc's forum if they want them to be commented on.

11. Good luck everyone! May the best man win!

Prize: Darth Vader transformation. (hopefully)

Judges: Schism, Pepa Quin, Iceman, Dyip_90, ThePlasticJedi

You've got about a month, so get busy! This sounds like a great contest, and I am very pleased to get to judge it. Let's see some great entries, people!

Being a judge, I can't enter, but I thought I'd get the ball rolling anyway. I haven't had time to build anything new lately, so here's some of my older Republic MOCs. Purely for inspiration, of course.

Republic "Scimitar" assault fighter

AX-17 Republic bomber

Republic Corsair-class gunship

Best of luck to everyone!

Hi, my name is Paul and I recently ran the Slave 3 contest.
I will be judging alongside my idols in this contest. I'd just like to say that our main goal is to get a lot of entries, we really hope to see many creative concepts and original entries. Please keep the spam down and comment only through PM/MOC pages. Also please thoroughly read Iceman's rules before posting a question.
Good Luck and Happy Building!

I posted this ship a while back and I figured why not be the first entry. (Nothing says existing can't be entered, so here you go) And I just LOVE this little MOC. Always have. I'm even considering building a UCS version of it. I've never done my own UCS MOC's so it could be fun, though I've done a coupel of Jon's, like his M-Wing, D-Wing, and T-wing.

Anyway, here is a little info (from my original post) and a link to the folder at Brickshelf.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I appreciate all the comments. the entire design started with the ehgine pods and the cockpit mechanism. I've been dying to use these designs for months and I ended up putting them in the same ship. I'd also been toying with the 1x4 offset plates at the back for a while.

The color scheme actually IS dark red and not red. Red looks like orange when it's with black, and all those pieces that you might think look red are actually dark red. I chose it as an Alliance (or New Republic) fighter because it would be difficult to discern from the space if it were darker instead of lighter and the ships were used to confuse Imperials ond others. You'd see a convoy or a frigate on the scopes and think that it was basically unprotected and then here comes this swarm of ShadowHunters to kick your miserable backside.

In response to the blockiness of it, that was a deliberate design concept, much like how the engine pods aren't really rounded. I like the thickness of the ship. I think it adds to the toughness and meatiness of it. Had I made it sleeker and thinner it would like like a fast vehicle and not a strong vehicle. I wanted both.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks,

TPM

The k-wing is really a heavy gunship class a-wing.It's several cannons make this ship insanely veristile buit still just as speedy as the average a-wing.it has a brand new feature to the republic an ability to keep the pilot alive in sitautions that would otherwise make such an expensive ship to go down.(more info down)
SPecs: 30 studs long and 32 studs wide

there is an extra "/" at the end of the links to the first and last pictures. Dperic8 needs to edit his post and delete the slashes after the "jpg" in the link, then they work. Very Happy

i now Present to you the New Republic Bomber, the Jedi Star Bomber. built using parts from the Jedi Intercepter, it is small and agile. its main weaponry are 2 nuclear torpedos and two proton cannons. the cockpit in this is way different than the one in the jedi interceptor. this one has a big seat and a more responsive control array. the main colors of this are Dark Red (Republic Red), Dark Grey, and White. these stick to the republic colors. usually a pilot trained in the art of dog-fighting will be piloting this but its not odd to see a few Jedi piloting these too.

Well here is my entry for the EU contest the I-38 Blackhawk
A little backround this is a republic night assault fighter..used for quick night attacks... it is a sleek less armored vehicle which can seat only 1 pilot.

Introducing my entry:

T-97 Strike Fighter the "T-Wing"

The T-Wing is the New Republic's new heavy strike starfighter manufactured by FreiTek Inc. the creators of the E-Wing.

The T-Wing is armed with four heavy laser cannons, two light laser cannons, and two proton torpedoes. The light laser cannons are operated by the second pilot who sits at the rear of the starfighter, or rather at the top when it is in flight mode. The second pilot also operates the targeting system for the proton torpedoes.

The T-Wing uses a unique design where the body of the fighter tilts upwards as it's wings rotate and fold down for flight and combat. In this position the two pilots are in a near standing position and their controls of the craft fold up and around them.

When landing the body of the starfighter "lays back down" and it's wings rotate back and fold up. So that when landing the pilots are almost laying down.

The front nose gun contains the two light lasers and the targeting/optical package for the second pilot. The lasers and targeting package offer the second pilot a complete view around the starfighter including directly behind and below, thus giving the pilots of the T-Wing an almost 360 degree view about their craft.

The twin engines of the starfighter are mostly enclosed in the main frame of the starfighter, offering them superior protection. The engines tilt for the different flight modes.

Front view in flight mode:

And there you have it. I hope the pictures do it justice, you don't realize how "unwhite" your old Lego are until you put them next to some brand new ones.
