Wow Neyo, that's some really SNOTty work, good job. The little side engine pods look like they are of Tie design. That upright "disc" shape is familiar, but can't recall where I've seen something like it before.... design elements are not very reminiscient of past slaves, but still rather menacing looking.

One question.... any landing gear? Or does it just sit on its bottom? Also, is any of it detachable for an escape pod?

Lastly.... you all are making some great ships, I feel rather insecure about mine now...

Well here's my model, Fett picked it up at a seconhand shipyard dealership on tatooine. It's rather crummy, featuring one large engine and a low visibilty cockpit. But what makes this ship so deadly is It's 2 large side cannons resulting In Fett ususally blowing his bounty to Bits Instead of capturing them. Razz

Overhead

front angled

bounty compartmens and living space

underside

underside flipped up (greebled!)

engines

Yah It's pretty crappy, but hey, Star Wars isn't pretty Wink

The only thing wrong with yours iceman would be that you had a sweet colorcoding going at the tip but you just lost it near the cockpit. Awesome design though.

Neyo, Pretty sweet! I love the cockpit design and the use of the Zip line handles as controls! And the Jedi Starfighter Windshield looks awesome on the model. Once again it's the details I love on every and all MOCS, I need to go to a detailing school to be able to do this. I love how the wings (Side parts) are not symetrical, which is a huge flaw of mine. MUST...MAKE...Every...thing....symetrical...I...can't...resist!!!
I have to let go and try it.
Great model, now there are four awesome models I really love. How I know I like it, I'd pay money to buy it even though it is not an official set. That goes for all my favorite entries here. (Everyone has done such a great job, good luck to everyone, in the contest!

It can fit up to 3, but it's pretty tight Wink Besides, one hunk of rotting meat is enough Razz

Ok, here it is, my Slave III. Reclaiming the shape of the original Slave this ship is smaller and packs more powerful weaponry than the previous incarnations. It features 2 sets of 2 medium pulse lasers near the nose of the ship, giving a total of 4 close range weapons. Two extremely powerful and highly accurate long range lasers extend from the body of the ship on very versatile ball jointed arms. These lasers can rotate on more angles than the medium pulse lasers, and pack a more powerful punch, however, they take longer to cycle than the shorter ranged weaker lasers.

Unlike the previous Slaves, this small craft has an escape pod for the pilot. While it is regrettable that the cargo cannot also be saved it is sometimes a necessary sacrifice for the life of the pilot. The pod has a row of controls on the "face" of the pod, and life support systems built into a tight restraining area which comprises the "command couch". The pilot literally lays down and is supported by the structure around him, reducing fatigue on the body from gravity change and sudden deceleration. A force field creates a canopy for the pilot, ensuring a clarity of vision not seen by previous models.

While sparce, the hold is adequate to fit up to 4 individuals at a time. Comfortable? no.... but who cares? They only have to be alive at the time of delivery. The hold is accessible by the ramp and folding ladder. Two hatches on the side lower to reveal an equipment locker on one side and a weapons locker on the other.

The underside of the Slave III sports a hefty engine that powers one central propulsion unit and several maneuvering thrusters (located in the halo), giving it the best combat maneuverability of any scout/attack craft in private production. Held in place by swing arms, the landing gear releases to rest over these two massive pieces of machinery. The primary weapons pods also retract and recess onto the halo, adding support to the otherwise weighty weapons.

The entire gallery when public.

Side Shot, landed
top rear
top front
top
ship with escape pod detached
escape pod detached
escape pod opened to expose the command couch
ship with hatch off, showing details of command couch
cargo hold opened to expose detaining cell
right side equipment storage
left side weapons hatch
entrance ramp and ladder into the cargo hold/detaining cell
cargo hold lid removed, and detail of collapsable ladder
underside of ship with landing gear retracted
underside of ship with landing gear extended
details of landing gear extended
underside of ship with landing gear retracted showing details of the engine (on right) and main propulsion unit (on left)
ship with weapons extended for flight
side shot of weapons extended for flight
variable geometry on the long range lasers (on left) and medium pulse lasers (on right)

And one more note.... I consider this to be one of my very first MOCs after coming out of the dark ages. I was never a big free bulder, so this was a challenge. I've been here for a while now and studying the techniques used by the more successful builders; I hope my efforts are adequate. Comments and critique should be directed to this topic. Thanks!

Nice last minute entries! Reclusemage pretty sweet...I like the use of Bionicle parts for the detail, very nice.

Comander Neyo, very cool model.

One question way off topic. Now that we have to Neyo's I realised there must be a SW character with Neyo as it's name. I actually thought Neyo was a Matrix fan and mispelled Neo's name, Embarassed I guess I am not as much of a SW fan as i thought. But yeah, I found out on Starwars.com the answer:

please be patient. the judges were asked for their picks for winner yesterday, and the addition of new entries require another round of voting, I think. it may take a few days to figure it out.

I sure didn't expect two near deadline entries, yes judges will need to review this PM ME WITH YOUR NEW/STILL NOMINEES. There were awesome entries all around and I wanted to give our judges a head-start. Right now I am stuck between two entries but these last minute entries really shook things up. Awesome entries all around, I am proud to call this contest my own. Thanks a lot for all of the entries, I think that you all did better than mine. Winner will hopefully be announced later today.

But, it gives me great honor to announce that fmoo is the winner of the mini scale, in fact he was the only one in the mini scale, unfortunately there were not 7 entries and there will not be a prize. Still it was a great model Dennis and I thank you for sharing it with us.

The judges have deliberated and a verdict has been reached.
Honorable mention goes out to:

Recluse Mage
Brickscout
and Neyo

But, overwhelmingly, the winner is Schism

There were such great entries all around that it hurts me to vote one person as supreme, you are all winners for putting the time and effort into this contest. Thank you, it has been a great honor to host such a successful contest.

Good Day

Thanks! Hehe, no worries about the lack of prize. I had a lot of fun building the model.

Congrats to Schism for his great model, and props to everyone who participated and made some very cool Slave MOCs. Thanks to PJ for organizing the contest and encouraging everyone to build something!

Hey, thanks so much everyone! I really appreciate the flattery, the feedback, and the general kindred and supporting attitudes I've become accustomed to on this site. To you, the people of FBTB, I thank you.

Prize or no, I had a blast with this contest! Big thanks go out to Plastic Jedi for throwing this contest at us, and to the judges for helping him out. It's activities like this that inspire people (myself included!) and help the community as a whole to grow. It's a shame we didn't get the number of entries we were hoping for, but on the whole I think this was a very successful contest, and I saw some great entries! Congratulations to everyone who entered; there is no contest without contestants.

Again, big thanks go out to everyone who participated, helped with judging, and anyone else concerned who I may have overlooked. It's great to see people who still care about this litle hobby. Fantastic job, all.
