Update: Winners are announced. See this post for details.

So I vaguely remember on the pre-hack boards, that I implemented the forum's built in polling system, but I can't remember how I linked to the entries.... in any case, I hope this method works out. If not, I'll have to try something different next month. Here are your contestants. Please view each person's entry, then make your selection above. Good luck to all:

-----------------------
Would you like to win your very own 4483 AT-AT? It's quite simple really. All you have to do is build an MOC of the cockpit. Here are the official rules:

1) "cockpit" is defined as the head module of the AT-AT model not including the neck. This includes the interior AND exterior. Model must take into account where the neck attaches to.

2) Model must be in minifig scale.

3) In order to enter, please LINK TO individual images or a brickshelf gallery. DO NOT post images directly to this thread.

4) Your work will be judged by your peers through phpbb's built-in polling system.

5) Winner will be contacted via PM where arrangements will be made.

6) This contest is open to everyone in the world.

7) Contest is open for submissions July 1 through July 31. Voting will occur between August 1 and August 7.

I think that pretty much covers it. If you have questions or need clarification, please post.

Update: I'll be updating this thread for the voting. Should be up by end of day. Watch this space or the front page for updates.

oh yeah, one more rule:

8) Model must be made from real LEGO elements. No CAD submissions will be accepted.

onions, what criteria will we be using for voting? Are we going for accuracy, or can we come up with alternate heads with custom designs and colors?

Thanks!

Dennis

completely up to you. the premise is: design an at-at head. it's up to you to decide what an at-at head would look like both on the inside and the outside.

i would think accuracy would win you more points than any other creative interpretation, but that would be my own opinion.

Skotafactor, I wouldn't suggest that you get your submission in so quickly. I believe an innovative and interesting design will win this contest and if you submit your ideas now, with 30 days still left, others may want to "borrow" any innovative and interesting ideas you had for yours.

You should resize your photos.

I'll be entering, just wait for a few days...

[Edit]

My entry is ready. My custom AT-AT head is made completely out of my cousin's lego pieces.

This may be a silly question, but can we submit pictures of our design in MLcad (with pieces that actually exist) instead of taking actual pictures?

-Thanks

I thought that meant that you couldn't chop up any LEGO pieces, paint them, or them together. Then again, I'm not quite sure, because I don't know what "CAD" is.

Saber2552, CAD is Computer Aided Design *I think*. If you have MLcad you can create 3D renderings of lego models. These will not be accepted as a submission because you have not created the model using physical lego elements.

That's fine, I appreciate the answer. I use MLCad (and Ldraw) to render everything I build. I think it makes it easier for me to see. That and my camera is pretty pathetic at taking close up shots of lego models.

Thanks,
Benton

I lost, but master yoda already has an AT-AT! And um, Model must take into account where the neck attaches to. Where do your models connect to a neck?

Uhm. Well thats kind of confusing what he means with:

Model must take into account where the neck attaches to.

I built an At-At cockpit already, too, but in my model there is also the door and a very small way where the neck would attach to. But in exterior you just see the head without the neck. I just put a little of the way of the neck inside the head! Anybody understand this?? o0 ^^
Well, I don't want to enter my model already, as I don't know wether it is okay, if I built it that way or not Wink

Should the head design be such that it can fit on the existing minifig model, as that particular model is to minifig scale?

I am not Onions but he said "you need to take into account where the neck attaches" Translation: part of this contest is to see your skill getting the AT-AT head to attach to something. The neck needs to be taken into consideration.

So you mean I should make some technic bricks with holes in the back of my head where a neck could connect, also there is no neck to connect with and well I don't see these things on the models that are entered yet, and well in my opinion, its not very skillfull to put two 2x1 technic bricks with holes, where could have been normal 2x1 bricks and it even looks better. I mean if you wanted to attach it to a neck you could removed the normal bricks and put the bricks with holes to the same position. I want to hear it from onions, if its okay if there is no bricks on the head where a neck could attack, or if its not I will rebuilt the back of my current model. Also I don't know why this is so important *g* ^^

No, but I would put some bricks with holes inside the back of my head, if its neccessary for this contest. But I would prefer leaving it the way it is now, I like my model Smile
