The new one is an improvement on the design, but I prefer the TPM color scheme.

I'll go with that. I own the old one and i really like the decorated parts.

Stickers are a pain in the bottom to place correctly on the new sets.

Each one has its advantages. The Trade Federation AAT was probably the best of the original TPM vehicles, and still looks good next to more recent brown/tan vehicles, like the MTT. It also had a good price to parts ratio back in 2000. The new Separatist AAT has more minifigs, a unique Yoda head, unique SBD cannon arms, and an overall sleeker and sturdier design. The only real gripe I have with it is its price. 407 pieces should be $40, not $50. Otherwise, the new AAT is actually the standout of the new sets, in my opinion.

does anyone happen to have a pic of these two models physically side-by-side? Are they nearly the same size, or is the new one bigger?

Sand brown, nuff said. Though the new design in sand brown would be killer.
