We were putting up Christmas decorations and didn't have a nice nativity to display, so I decided to rectify that:

http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Miniland/Christmas/Nativity/nativity01.jpg

While, I'm quite fond of Mary's hair, I'm not real happy with how Baby Jesus turned out, though. Any suggestions?

Here's the rest of the gallery:

Jesus looks like an octan tank. Razz

Maybe you could sort of coccoon him in swaddling clothes? Like white plates on either side of his face and white on top of his head. I quite like how you did Mary's hair also!

Great work!

The first Noel the [miniland] angel did say
Was to certain poor [miniland] shepherds in fields as they lay
In fields where they lay keeping their [miniland] sheep...

I bet you can't guess the latest additions to my miniland nativity:

http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Miniland/Christmas/Nativity/nativity02.jpg

And I also redesigned Baby Jesus to something less barrell shaped...

The whole holiday gallery:

I applaud your nativity. I like the way you made the people.

I love the miniland style of people. Your Nativity looks really good.

However...
Mary and Joseph were both Jewish so I highly doubt that Mary was blonde.

I'm sure they had hair color back then. . . Wink

Great job! I like the new baby Jesus much better, though the old one was cute, too. Smile

Maybe I'm basing it off the medieval/renaissance iconography which depicted Bible characters as European?

Or maybe I just wanted to try out the hairstyle and only had the right yellow bricks to do it?

Or maybe I just like blondes? (Don't tell my wife Shocked )

I'm pretty sure they did. Though I'm not sure they could have gone blond...

Nice building; I think the colors are nicely done, and it's good to note that Mary most of the time wore blue. Wink

Although if you want to make her hair black I'd say just rebuild it in black.

Also, is there any reason Jesus has a white covering on his head? Unless, of course, his hair roots on his head were extra productive... Razz

This is really good, as always. You could get some [more] notoriety by moc'ing it up with LDD on Lego Factory. A lot of people would buy it this time of year!

R2 Lou2, dude, that's probably illegal in some states and definitely a no-no around here. Laughing

Jesus was "wrapped in swaddling clothes", most people interpret that as him being wrapped up pretty snuggly, thus his head would be covered up too.

OK then, that works.

It also could be a halo of sorts. Wink

Indeed; a halo would be separate from the head rather than right on it.

And it was cold out, considering it's December.

Umm....Bethlehem is in the middle east, and the middle east doesn't get that cold in the winter, just ask my sister, she is there now, and it isn't cold, and it's December.

And Jesus wasn't born in December anyway, but we're getting off the point. Razz

Athos, excellent work - sparked a little Christmas feeling in me.

Merry Christmas!
