Michael Crichton, the author of Jurassic Park, Lost World, and other novels passed away yesterday at age 66 of cancer.

I've only read the JP novels so far, but my sister has read nearly all of his books, and we're all sad. He will be missed. Sad

Wow. Just wow.

Despite all the violence, I thank him for opening our eyes to a world that was lost to the ages. Thanks to him, man walked with the once great kings of our world.

I believe he used to also write episodes of "ER" back then.

Anyways, I loved the novel Jurassic Park. The movie was also good, but the book is quite the thriller. He also wrote such eye-opening sci-fi books such as the Andromeda Strain. Some of his work is disliked, controversial if you will, some call it inaccurate, but his novels are great, regardless, for the story lines they contained. Yeah, he'll be missed.

He may have written episodes, but that's not all, folks. "ER" was his idea - so he was making some $$ off of the show. He came up with the concept back in the '70s and it didn't get picked up and developed as a show until the 90s. I can find a link later if you need me too.

Truly a sad day indeed. Jurassic park has been in my top ten favourite books of all time ever since I read. I just re-read it a few months ago and it still holds up (other than the computer modem hogging all the phone lines Smile.

I've read every book he wrote (I think) and seen most of the movies based on them. Sadly ALL the movies sucked in comparison to the books. Ever Jurassic Park the movie, which was a good movie, was no where as good as the book.

Michael Crichton is my favorite author, so when I learned of his passing I was shocked and saddened. I don't think he publicly announced he had cancer so it came as quite a surprise to me. I also read that his novel that was supposed to come out December 2 has been postponed to May 4. so much for trying to get that for Christmas... Crying or Very sad
