Hello all! James Lileks devoted his weekly dissection of a questionable comic book covers to an early Star Wars one. Enjoy!

Man, that brings back memories. I used to OWN that issue back in the late 70s. It's been gone for well over 25 years, though, so don't ask where it is now.

I honestly don't remember much about the comic, except that it followed the plot of Episode IV, more or less. If I remember correctly, that issue ended before the Battle of Yavin even begins, so the cover is a bit misleading.

I had around a half dozen Star Wars comic issues at one time, including one of the magazine sized ones. Several where post-Ep IV, following Han and Chewie in their exploits ABY.

EDIT: darn mispellings!

Yeah I had at least one that I recall with Han and Chewie on the front. I was probably only six or seven at the time, and I recall not being all that impressed. Usually they seemed to be written/drawn by someone that had only seen Star Wars once and was probably drunk at the time of viewing.
