It's been a decade and a half since the Ice Planet was found, and the explorers have come to realize they weren't prepared for all the dangers of this frozen world. Thus, a Special Forces unit was created to counter any would be attackers and hostile adversaries.
Really I just wanted to make some figs for the bitchin Brickarms Prototypes I picked up at BrickCon - and IP2K2 was one of my favorite themes as a kid and it deserves an update. |

The neon orange pieces in 2002 were bitchin and always will be. That orange knife is stunning. I am not familiar to the reddish brown face, which fig foes it belong to? _________________ My BrickSHELF | My BrickLINK |

Very nice. That color scheme is simply lovely when you throw in some sand blue. Those BA prototypes get a big thumbs up _________________ Raptor Fun Fact #73- The raptor's natural enemy is the gas-powered internal combustion off-road vehicle, which is made of evil.

Great job Don. Now if only you could convince TLG to give us some new IP2002 sets based around those 2, I think that would be the best they could do for you. _________________ Infinite Bricks in Infinite Combinations(IBrIC)

Nope, never played it. If you read the description you'd know what they're based on. |

Was that timeframe chosen because of how long it's been since Ice Planet 2002 was released, or is it something you just made up for your backstory?
I like the update you've given the figures with the bley and sand blue colors. They also have sort of a Hoth feel to them. Likey! _________________

Yeah, Ice Planet pretty much marked the end of the good space era for me. Unitron would have been fantastic if they had put out more than half a line, Exploriens were nice but they all seemed stripped down compared to the prior themes, Spyrius & Roboforce were just silly, and UFO & Insectoids were sad.

I wanted these guys to be descendants of the old line, and just by coincidence it's been a clean 15 years since it debuted. So it worked out perfect. |

I liked spyrius and roboforce seemed alright...it was only like 4 sets. But yeah UFO and Insectoids definitely went down hill...as did mainly all Lego themes. _________________ XBLive = BlitzKreger

Hey! I'll have you know that all four of those are some of my favorite themes! I always loved Spyrius and Roboforce (Of course, that may be because Roboforce contained my first space set) and I always found Insectoids and UFO to be terrific fun, as well as Insectoids producing great fodder for building designs.
Also, how is it that no one's mentioned Blacktron or Space Police? Those were the lines that really started it all. _________________ Well, time to face the new world at FBTB II... |

With all due respect Flynn, you have horrible taste in space.
To be fair the classic line is what kicked off LEGO Space, but you're right - the true themes started with the original Space Police and Blactron (Futuron was still too subfactioned to call a line IMO, however fun it was). M-tron really modernized things and then Blacktron II and SP2 were pure awesome as well. IP2k2 showed up and seemed rather stand-alone, but it was so frigin cool you couldn't help but love it. |

Okay, what was wrong about Spyrius and Roboforce?
(I already know that Insectoids and UFO sets had large, massive peices and many specialized parts that weren't particulary useful in most MOCs, but I liked them nonetheless) _________________ Well, time to face the new world at FBTB II... |

Spyrius: it had potential, but I just didn't dig the red and black with trans blue scheme. Even if they did have some decent ships an cool figs it just wasn't enough to be good in my opinion. Combine that with the bitterness of Unitron getting swept aside for sets like the Robo-Guardian and the line is filed under lame. Then they follow up with four more failbots under the Roboforce banner and I knew space was in the can. If there's a short bus for LEGO themes, those guys are driving it. |

I have to agree IP2k2 was just awesome. I had to include an orange visor in pretty much every moc I made after that. hehe _________________ Brick Fett

The visors are just all sorts of cool. I wish they came in more than TNO and red. |
