Announcing a set that will bring tears to most LEGO Castle fans:

The 10193 "Medieval Town"

Quite frankly this set is amazing, and it clearly shows how TLG is evolving and listening to suggestions from AFOLs.
I see this set an equivalent to the Caffe Corner.

LEGO wrote:

Expand your LEGO® Castle kingdom!
This classic medieval village with marketplace is a perfect match for any LEGO Castle. Full of authentic features, fun accessories and all-new animals to expand and enhance your kingdom; it includes two complete buildings with detailed interiors like a blacksmith’s shop with waterwheel-driven hammer, a food stand, tree, table, cart, cows, horse, chicken, rooster, duck, peasants, knights, rare elements and colors, and more!

* Includes 8 minifigures: blacksmith, 2 soldiers, 2 male peasants, 2 female peasants and a boy minifigure!
* Play inside! The 2 two-story buildings feature a hinge system that allows you to open and close them as you wish!
* The yellow building contains the stables, blacksmiths shop and his home upstairs! Help the blacksmith forge the swords with the working water powered trip hammer! Don’t forget to close the stable gates and feed the horse some carrots!
* Blacksmith’s home features pictures on the walls, opening windows, table and fireplace!
* The classically European styled blue building features a cozy tavern on the first floor and welcoming bedroom on the top floor!
* Lots of authentic touches: fireplaces in the bedrooms, pictures on the walls, dressing tables, working doors and windows and other interior details!
* The soldiers and peasants alike shop and eat in the marketplace filled with baskets of fish, apples and flowers. Sit at the table for a meal of ale, cheese and whole turkey but stay out of the way of the soldiers carrying the king’s treasure!
* Buildings measure over 7.5″ tall and over 9″ long when open wide!

A full picture of the minifigs:

The fish vendor in the market:

A full turkey! plus a new female torso! ..oh.. and a bum.

And the Blacksmith! Sporting the latest in metallurgy fashion (that means he's got a new torso).

And there's more good news
The set will be released in January 2009
The set contains 1,601 pieces, and the price varies by country:

* Australia: $149.99
* Canada: $149.99
* United Kingdom: £84.99
* United States: $99.99

The set is packed with amazing accessories, brilliant building techniques, sweet minifigs. The price tag for the US is incredible for 1600 pieces. And I'm sure to ask someone from the states to send me a copy!

I think I'm going to cry. Tears of joy, that is.

Is there an official release date for this set?

Awesome-gorram-possum. Laughing It's beautiful, absolutely love it. And the price isn't that bad. I love that they're hinged (to close up fully, I would imagine?). The figs are fantastic-- you get the advent lady plus what looks to be an awesomely awesome second lady torso. Mmm, lady torso. Also digging the new tan/brown take on the Forestmen torsos. And cows, and chickens, and orangutans, and breakfast cereals... What's not to love!?

Definitely picking this one up, no doubt.

Yar, well I've waited 18 Razz

This set looks frakin' mint. Even though I'd love to ( I always love to) I wont go on about the fact that I hate the prices. But whatever.

This set is the dream come true of AFOL kind the world over. I really want one of these, and I'm not even a castle type guy. But the pieces and the figs and the animals are just, oooooooooooh YEAH. Looks brilliant.

I've never been really interested in Castle, but I think this just sparked it.

And we can all agree on the best part of the entire set.

A DUCK!!!

Wow..who knows where building will go from this. I'm thinking that we'll be seing some Castle sets along the lines of the 80's and 90's sets now. I used to really dislike the sets because of the similarities to the more recent Castle lines, but the 2008 and 2009 linup changes everything...this is just amazing.

Wow that's an awesome set. I've really only been collecting the Star Wars sets with a few Indiana Jones but this one is going on my wish list.

Very nice find.

Honestly, I'm excited about the fish stand and the cows more than anything else.

I mean, come on! A fish stand!

$150 in Canada and $100 in America?

Give me a God damn break, TLG.

Ditto! Seriously, my head exploded when I found out about this. The price/piece ratio is also excellent on this set.

Yeah, I'm so going to be using those fish for a Vanilla Fortress Mario World diorama.

I'm the same. This set will be my one Castle set, but if one was to only have one Castle set then this would be it!

This will definitely break my LEGO fast. There is no way I could turn this down. The only thing it needs is a pitchfork, then it would be perfect.

Saw it on CABG yesterday, but this thing is still awesome! Very Happy Reckon the buildings could be integrated into the Cafe Corner/Market Street/Green Grocer layout?

Yes, but is it heavier than the Advent Calendar witch? Wink

I spy what appear to be telescope pieces as beams in the building. Wonder what that means. Wink

The fact that the cows have a 1x2x2 brick integrated in them scares me a little. I'm picturing a cow slaughter in at least one MOC in the near future.

Glorious! So many cool things about this...not the least of which is a full turkey. Wink I'm glad to hear it will be available in North America. Castle, in particular, seems to be a theme that LEGO is hesitant to distribute to NA when it comes to "too good to be true" sets.

Go fish! Razz We all know what it means. Lego found a box of those pieces (originally made in the 90s) and decided to get rid of them through this set. Shoddy building work if you ask me. Wink Laughing

Oh no. I thought I'd only go for SW and Indy sets from now on, apart from bulk bricks for my other building projects. Guess I'll be turning to Castle as well. Darn.

The designers did actually confirm an upcoming Pirates theme (and showed off a couple of figures, too!)
