A while back I decided to update the design for my "legs bent backwards" speeder bike.

Thanks to a brand new piece I was able to have a better connection for the handles, and at the same time get rid of the rather comlicated construction used to hold the gun.

A second sloped piece was added to make the speeder bike more unique. (.. especially now that the official one is catching up.Wink )

Finally I replaced the cut screwdrivers with tiny black tubes for the handle bars.

The overall concept with the legs bent backwards for more speed is the same as for the old version discussed here.

Let me know what you think.

This gets better and better, it really does. Robot claws are your miracle piece, I assume?

That's as close to perfection as anything I've come across.

Great job, the metal claw piece works a lot better than the binocs at the bottom. I have been following your minifig bikes since the last few versions, and it just keeps getting cooler. I also think the front bit is better than before, the second curvy slope looks a lot sleeker than the old one (where I think you had layered plates). What set are those handlebar bits (really small black tubes) from?

This is designed so brilliantly, and looks superb. I think RogueBantha said it best.

Thanks for all the nice comments.

The new piece that helped me solve the puzzle was this one.

It made it possible to use this piece for the front rods..

..and finally I had somewhere to put a claw for the gun.

I remembered thinking that the new 1x1 brick with a clip seemed kind of useless when I first spotted it. Then I came up with this solution without actually having the piece. The next day I had to shop for ExoForce robots.

Junsier: Yes, that's the downside of successful updates. All the new photos that needs to be taken and editing of image gallerys and such. I guess I can keep the old pic in the sig for a while for comparison.

Now to your question from before. I don't think you will find tubes that small in a set. The handle bars are made of cut tubes. For some reason that felt better than the cut screwdrivers.

I think even some purists can stand this behavour, if they look the other way. Wink
In this case I think it's justified. They just look better this way.

Does anybody else have any thoughts on this matter? Are there some official LEGO elements that you can alter and still maintain some kind of purist approach. String, tubes or official stickers maybe?

Spiffy as always, those parts should be pretty cheap secondhand considering all the whining about the black not matching the other previous clone accessories in dark bley.

I just looked at that. I love it, you've accomplished an extremely clever construction for it.
Great MOC.

Ah! This keeps getting better and better. Ingenious, ingenious building as always. I especially love the small greebles. What in the world did you use for the handlebars, though?
