This is my cylon raider based on the re-imagined series. Keep in mind that my goal was not to create a perfect model of a raider. It was to make a simple model that both resembled the raider and used the rubber band holder as its main body. None the less, any advice would be welcome.

Well, since you asked... yeah. It kinda sucks. Wink Granted, I've been spoiled as of late looking at things like this and that - so you had a mountain to climb really.

Tips to improve it: try making it a bit larger and make some smoother transitions with the wings. Integrate the head section to the body more, and don't use the full slope brick on top of the wings because it's out of proportion.

I'm always amazed by the "it needs this" and "you should do that" -type comments I see here in response to people's posted creations. I know the MOC forum descriptor reads in part "Ideas, suggestions, kudos, and CONSTRUCTIVE criticism," but it still kind of floors me that people routinely tell others what's "wrong" with their built-for-fun LEGO creations or what they "need" or what would make them "better" without even being asked (in most cases, of course; I do realize bedaho did specifically ask for advice in this instance).

Posting a MOC in here is offering it up to the opinions of the masses. Telling the builder it needs this or is missing that is one form of suggestion on how to improve it. The builder can try the ideas and possibly learn from it, or they can completely ignore it - it's all up to them. But if they don't want their creation criticized, they shouldn't post it. Try loading it to Brickshelf, or on Flickr with comments disabled, and then go play with it instead.

The body and wings have improved now that it's larger, and I like the ribs, but the face still looks detached and incomplete though it's better than before. I don't really have any suggestions on how to improve it though because I haven't attempted one.

I’ve now made version 3. I think it’s getting better, but I know I need to work on the wings and get dark bley grilled cheese for the front.

The body is improved IMHO, but you need to re-work the "face" all together I think. The face of a Cylon raider looks more like a medieval helmet, with a red opening. The "chin" of the helmet should be flush with the red visor.

Other than that, I think the model as improved greatly since the first one. Kudos on that!

Oh, and I wanted to quote something for emphasis :

My thoughts exactly. If you make a thread about one of your creation, you're basically asking people to comment on it. Here at FBTB, people usually prefer to get constructive criticism, meaning that instead of just telling someone what is wrong or right about their MOC, people should also offer some suggestions as how to fix the wrongs.

You don't want any comment on your creations? Then don't bother putting pics of them online. Simple as that.
