That is such an interesting move by TLC actually.

Sure its an overpriced exclusive with a fantastic box art (way better than regular sets IMO) but I wonder how it will affect TLC's future.

They are really understanding that fans want a lot of MFs and they really acknowleged that with the DS. Maybe this type of set willm be released more. The Hoth base and before the Imperial Inspection were great sets but they lacked Mfs, and here you have a whopping 15+ Mfs set, its brillant IMO Wink

But that's about it. All it is is:

$40 plus cool box art...for $75??

Where did you get $10 for the new ep2 clone troopers. There are are four white ones and one blue capt Rex likely worth at least $25-30. That's assuming no new ep2 battle pack will be released to devalue these ones and the ones found in the AT TE and gunship. if they do release a battle pack later in 2009, then yes they will be likely worth $15-20 for the 5.

From a collectors point of view (where usually prices are not an issue if you have to have it), I think this would be a good set to own. A box set with no number would be unique. Even the USB, c3po/r2d2 technic, and arc170/tri fighter/mini had numbers on those boxes.

Anyone can think of a combo set released by lego with no numbers. The shrink wrapped target and walmart specials in the past do not count!

Correct my if I'm wrong, but it seems that it has both droids with new blasters, and droids with the "megaphone" blasters. Then again, new clones!

That's because it has the droid BP (which has the megphone blasters) and the Hailfire droid set (Which has the new blasters).

I'm curious, are the people clamoring to get this set, did you also buy that $50 exclusive with the Royal Guards at the Star Wars Con last year? Is this more about being a completist, or really, really, really wanting the mini-figs? Confused

There's a limited number (but I'm not sure what it is).

Sorry to say this, but ebay is your best bet.

The Star Wars exclusive from last year wasn't really a set, in my opinion. It was more of a promotional item. It was simply Vader and 2 Royal Guards on a few LEGO pieces with a Death Star window printed on card stock with a # out of 500 hand written on it inside a small, clear plastic cube like you would keep an autographed baseball in. I "won" the opportunity to buy one and I ended up selling it about 6 months later because it just didn't do anything for me. I am a set collector and it was nothing great. I think the Indy thing this year is more of an actual set, but I haven't seen it.

I was at Comic Con today...trust me when I say this set is a total rip-off. The cover of the box lifts up to reveal the fact that it is just a bundle of these other sets. I am quite sure the large exclusive box simply houses three other boxes...and 1 poster + 1 lame minifig.

Not as desirable as it could of been!

Whoa - I hadn't heard anything about this! Obviously you weren't too impressed with it, but I'm really interested. Are there any pix available of this set? I'd really like to see it...

Hopefully with the release of this set, it means that in the future LEGO will be forthcoming with some kind of clone battle pack.
Even if it is just a speeder (of the 7676 RGS type) and 4 plain clones, I will buy it for $10US easy.
Even if they just put an infantry cannon, like in the 4504 MF and 7666 Hoth set, that would be great.
In fact, I would pay the 10 bucks just for the 4 Phase1 clones! Cool

Pity the set is only available at ComicCon. It is pretty immense, compared to what was on offer exclusively last year.

I really think you're right Wink But I totally forgot it was for Celebration IV and not last year's SDCC.

I bought this on eBay and got a Clone Battle Pack inside instead of the Droid Battle Pack. I don't suspect foul play, as it doesn't change the value and everything else was there.

Thoughts?

Were the minifigs stuck down? Could you get inside the cube?

It's not upside down. You're just rotating it on the wrong axis!

But yes mine is upside down and doesn't bother me at all since it's a very bland image on the back.

I think you've been had. Is the DBP unavailable in the US? That could be why.
