I just rolled across this on flickr:
http://flickr.com/photos/popculturegeek/2698201930/sizes/o/
http://flickr.com/photos/popculturegeek/2698201856/sizes/o/
And hadn't seen anything about it posted anywhere yet... am I dense or did they really slide this sucker in under the radar? Check out the minifig lineup on top of that box: 15 minifig! But check out the price... $75.

I'd buy one $75 at current exchange rates!

Sadly, folks selling these on via ebay / bricklink will not respect the original price nor will they respect exchange rates! Cool

I bet they'll be up for at least $150

wow what a beauty! a little over priced- from what i can tell- we have the equivalent of

1x hailfire droid set $20 value
and
1x clone battle back
1xdroid battle back

$40 worth of lego for $75? still a beauty

Meh. You'd have to think that LEGO will do a new clone battle pack with at least one 'special' clone and two or three plain ones at some point, so it seems to me you're just paying for the hype at this point (or investing to sell it to some fool who'll pay a ridiculous amount of money for it in the not-too-distant future).

16 minifigs, actually. It's still cool, but it's essentially a combination of Hailfire Droid & Spider Droid, the Battle Droids battlepack and the Clone Troopers battlepack, with these differences:

has the new versions of the old (Phase I) Clone Troopers
one more Clone Trooper and one more Super Battle Droid than one would get from those sets
(apparently) lacks the turret and speeder in the Clone Troopers battlepack

... so yeah, a little on the pricey side for what one gets (going by comparison with those other three sets, which could be had for a total of $40 - at least until the recent discontinuation of the Clone Trooper pack, anyway).

Still neat, though! And how did this slide in under the radar, anyway? I hadn't read anything anywhere about any Star Wars-related exclusives from LEGO for SDCC, only the Indiana Jones set, which FBTB itself reported. Why no word of a new set for the franchise the site actually is devoted to, when it had word months ago of the set for the only loosely-related Indy series? Had I known, I'd have had people watching out for this for me, too... Shocked

So other than a box of clones and a poster this is just 7654 and 7670 put together in a box? As much as I like to try to be a completist with my LEGO collection I'm going to pass on this one. I already have the two sets included so the extras don't really justify the price point for me.

This is pretty cool, but I'm gunna pass, it's too expensive for an army builder. They need little battle packs Wink.

It's expensive, but NICE I want it, and luckly for me I don't already have the Hailfrie set so it would be a perfect buy. Except that it's an exclusive that I will only be able to find on eBay, and I'm not paying there.

So all that is good about this set is a new outer box, a few clones and a poster?

It really takes the mick when the Halfire Droid and BP are even in their original boxes.

The question is - will the four clones make up for the extra price?

No - they won't.

It's an exclusive, lego can charge what ever they wanted and people will still buy it. They have learned this.

I think if you were going to spend 75$ on army building, you'd be better off buying four HSD sets.

- 3 more Droid Commanders
- 3 more colored clones (Fox)
- Cooler Vehicle

I don't think the purpose of this set was for army building - as others have pointed out, for the same money you can get alot more.

This set is for the collectors, who are less concerned with the $75 price tag, and more concerned with the "limited edition of only 1200 sets" aspect of the set.

It will make a good collector's item, and will be set to be one of the rarer pieces of SW LEGO memorabila, only superceded by some of the toyfair invites, the solid gold, silver, and bronze 3P0's (not the chrome painted 1of10,000 ones, the solid ones), and the red Vader helmets.

It is an impressive chance to get five of the new clone trooper figures, and while I already own both the Hailfire Droid and Droid Battle Pack sets, I wouldn't mind increasing the ranks of my Separatist Army. But the price tag, low availability, and future collectible status only make me realize this is one gem I am going to have to miss. Oh well.

it seems like a ripoff to me. the only things I wouldn't have from that set would be the new clones.

What a ripp off! but worth it Wink

Can i just ask - does anyone have the set? it doesn't look to have a set number??? so i was just wondering - inside the box, do you get hailfire droid, droid BP, Clone BD in their seperate boxes, or is it a set in itself - if so, whats its #?

EDIT: dont worry check out the pics on this auction

for those "lucky" enough to pay for this set, it'll at least stop SOME of the whining about not having enough Phase-1 Clones for the gunship and walker...

wow, whoever was in charge of making that display doesn't know how to spell "collectible"... first the death star euro price flub, now they can't recognize proper spelling (or even work their spellcheck) Rolling Eyes

and yah, overpriced -- i can't believe they just repackaged 2 other sets and threw in some new clones. what a rip...

the box art "appears" to have a different colored hailfire droid -- if these were, in fact, new color versions of that and the spider droid, i would ALMOST say it MIGHT be worth the exclusivity...

Correct my if I'm wrong, but it seems that it has both droids with new blasters, and droids with the "megaphone" blasters. Then again, new clones!

Nice box art.

But that's about it. All it is is:

$20 (hailfire)
+
$10 (Droid battle pack)
+
$10 (Clone battle pack)
=
$40 plus cool box art...for $75??

I think you forgot the poster. Wink

For us in England, however, 37.50 for those three sets isn't that higher than normal. For once, the UK beats America (and this time it won't change).

In fairness, it does also have the poster, plus one more Clone Trooper than one would get with the previously existing sets (aside from it having different Clones, of course).
