I found this today and felt it would be cruel not to share:
Garfield minus Garfield

Quote:
Who would have guessed that when you remove Garfield from the Garfield comic strips, the result is an even better comic about schizophrenia, bipolor disorder, and the empty desperation of modern life? Friends, meet Jon Arbuckle. Letís laugh and learn with him on a journey deep into the tortured mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against lonliness and methamphetamine addiction in a quiet American suburb.

Perhaps its a little dark, but some of those are hilarious. Much better than the bland, recycled humor Davis uses day-in and day-out.

Cruel indeed. You've made my day. Smile
Those work surprisingly well, and the humour is indeed quite better than in the actual Garfield strips. Quite odd, actually; you improve a comic by removing the main character..

I have to say, this is one of the strips at which I laughed loudest. Don't really know why, it even isn't one of the most hilarious ones..

I found this a couple of weeks ago, and it really is very funny. I wonder what a purely Odie comic would be like Laughing

I do love Garfield, but what's annoying, the Daily Mail has a little comic each day of the week, and I now hate it (sometimes). Jon should never be with Liz, it should be him trying and failing.

But lawl at that anyway, s'good find.

Haha wow nice find. Without Garfield in the comic, Jon just seems like a very sad and depressed man Laughing

For some odd reason, I just really like this one.
I don't know, it just reminds me of dWhisper for some reason. Wink

To be fair, some of these, like this one, hit a little closer to home than I'd care to admit. Embarassed

See, while the glaring is spot on, I probably would have kicked something and stolen the signature panel too.

Did Jim Davis actually create these, or are they just fan-edited comics? Some are pretty funny, but overall they just seem really weird. Confused

No, I actually read plenty of Garfield! I guess what I'm trying to say is, did Jim Davis actually create the whole strip, or is this the handywork of someone using the aforementioned Randomizer? Neutral

Someone took the Garfield comics, removed Garfield (and whoever else may have been in the strip), so that all you saw was Jon.
For someone who reads "plenty of Garfield" I though you would've noticed "hey, that was last weeks strip, but without Garfield!". Razz

Well, okay, I read plenty of it when I get the opportunity. Our town newspaper doesn't have comics, and I don't go to Garfield.com as often as I should. Wink So, I wouldn't recognize last week's strip because I haven't read it. But when I get the chance to read the books, or when I am on Garfield.com, I read a lot. Hope that clears things up.

OK, but it wasn't just last weeks strip on the website. But, whatever I guess. Laughing
