Can I ask a question that I haven't seen in the rules? I can - good:

Is it OK if I was to build a steam-punk model of something...say an X-Wing...that was in mini-fig toy scale? What I mean is, could I make a steam punked model of a toy, simmilar to that of a childs pedal car, but done in the Star Wars universe from a spaceship?

So... on this, are you asking if you can make something that's not LEGO?

No, I mean something that is in a scale of what an X-Wing equivilant to a pedal car made of LEGO.

Thanks Fetty. Yeah, to echo Don, I think that it will be a challenge to get it to fit, but if you can mesh Steam Punk, Peddle Cars, and Star Wars, sure, you're welcome to try.

If your asking if you can make a small Star Wars Steampunk LEGO MOC. then I would think the answer would be "Yes"

Unfortunately, I doubt it. FBTB.net is a historic site dedicated to Star Wars Lego up to 2006. The forums are all that remain of a once great idea.

Well, with very little idea on how I could announce my starting to build in a ye olde way, I'll say it simple.

I've built the front part, which houses the boiler so far on my FULL-SCALE model. That's right - I've decided against the pedal car idea as I thought of a much cooler Steam Punk idea.

If we build a vehicle or ship, would we be alowed to include a diorama with it, or does it need to just be the vehicle or ship by itself?

You're just submitting a ship for the contest, but there's noting to stop you from creating a diorama with it for your own joy and showing off. Just leave that out of the submission thread image is all.

Just FYI, although your jab at the outdated main age is valid, posting to the main page gets borked at the start of the new year. It's fixed now, and I immediately posted the message I'd had ready to go for days.

DonSolo wrote:

The concept is simple: recreate a vehicle from Star Wars in steampunk style.

To give you a sample of this idea, take a look at these two existing examples from a couple talented FOLs out there: click-idy-click! Same source ship, two fantastic an unique interpretations. Both are very obviously steampunk style but you still know exactly what ship from Star Wars was the inspiration. That is your task.

The Rules:
•Stick to core vehicles... the icons people will know. Don't get too obscure or it loses it's effect. People should be able to recognize what it's based on, but you need to have a source image to compare it to anyways. Use your gut here because we don't want every person asking "is this ok, is that ok..." You'll know if it fits and if you doubt it, use something else.
•Make it minifig scale, a new and original design, and only use official elements. No existing MOCs, rehashes of something you've seen but with brown parts instead of gray, and no custom stickers or modified parts please. Those are pretty standard contest rules.
    •That's it! Simple!

To Enter:
Post a single 640x480 picture to represent your MOC in this thread, an image (up to 640x480) of the source vehicle, and provide a link to your discussion thread or gallery where you can have as many images of your MOC as you want. dW will post an example below - stick to that format or your entry might get overlooked.

Judging:
We, the evil biased moderators, will narrow the field down based on bribes and favoritism, then pick a random one for the winner, and in the end keep the prizes for ourselves. (I'm kidding of course, we'll base it on how well the models fit the contest, the quality of the MOC and presentation, balance of Steampunk and Star Wars style, so on an so forth... - then we will present the forum at large with a poll to decide the top three winners).

Prizes:(We figured those are the steampunkish official Star Wars sets... so they make the best prises here Wink)

The contest will run from January 1st until January 31st (ending at 11:38 pm, PST) and judging will follow in the beginning of February. No Submissions until January 20th. Starting on the 20th, you have until the 31st to submit your build. (Obviously, a limit of one entry per member.) Ask your questions in here, but once the entries are submitted the thread will get trimmed down so it's easier to see the contestants for the judging portion.

...Go!
I thought we might need to have that at the top of this new page, just to make sure everyone who wants to enter has double the chance of reading the rules so their entry gets included when the time comes.
