|
|
So anyways, I decided to build a Slave I for Aaron's contest, because Slave I's r0x0rz, and they're the only thing I'm good at. Approximately 1-stud a meter, around 1 and a half studs off or so, so around 20 studs. I've been looking at a few 1-stud per meter stuff, but also roguebantha's 2 m = 1 cm, because it's really interesting to actually build at a real scale rather than throw stuff together. Admittedly, mine doesn't follow it exactly, but it's almost close. I really based it off my minifig-scaled version, so they look pretty similar, and I added a few shots of them together. So it's pretty much another Slave I version to keep myself occupied while attempting the UCS scaled one. Anyways:

Pic is a link to the gallery, I didn't take the time to make each individual photo link to their page, 'cuz Flickr takes a while to load for me. Comments? Suggestions? _________________

Thanks for all the comments guys. Woah, that was fast.
Leon: Thanks! Too bad you're not judging...
Don: Yeah, it better be sleek and accurate. I had to BL the cockpit pieces and the brown slopes, etc.. I'm pretty surprised at the lack of pieces I actually had to make it. But I have a nice few leftovers to eat.
Veers and Jedd: Thanks.
Falcon Man: Interestingly enough, I haven't seen any Slave I mini's using that cockpit design when I was looking for any inspirational sources. I surely thought someone would've done it already, but looks like I'm the first. A lot, like roguebantha, used the width of 1 for the cockpit, well I guess my scale is a bit bigger. But it took me a while to conceptualize a way to implement both of the cockpit pieces in a coherent way. _________________

Great model Juns!
The cockpit design is really great, along with the great use of all the pieces.
If it were official I'd buy it. |

dW and DV: Thanks for the responses. Incidentally this is only my second mini, so I decided to put some effort into it.
P47: Heh, I told you I actually worked on it.
NJM: Thanks! I think mine's an "unorthodox" kinda model, because I tried to make it fit in with my system-scale one. So the outer-egg shell in brown is the same principle as the larger one, the 1 width brown slopes on the bottom attatched to slopes on the top to give that look. The cockpit, too, is quite unorthodox. Lego decided to give a little ridge on top of that piece I used, so you can't connect them using clicky-hinges. So it was hard to figure out how to attatch the two together pleasently, but I finally got it. _________________

You are becoming the the master of Slave 1 MOCs. You can really tell that you put some time into this and are dead set on having the ultimate Slave 1 at any scale. Good job.
I think you should legally change your name to Slave 1, although you might attract too much interest from the S&M scene. _________________ |)0U{|-|3 |)0U{|-|3=================================== |

Great work, I really like it
As to suggestions, I would like to see the (clever) cockpit section raise up a plate to bring it in line with the rest on the body, is that do-able? _________________ My Brickshelf |

Rocksnoopadiddlerockathonianrebel: UCS next! I'm already a very active member in the S&M scene...ermm...Service & Maintanance that is...
squadronbantha: In the real Slave I model, the cockpit is a little lower than the actual "snout", so to capture that I placed it an entire stud lower. That's just my reasoning behind it, but I guess it could go either way? Hmmm...something for me to fix....

Heh, I was waiting for someone to notice it. Thanks, I actually looked to your ver5i0n first, but you used a different way for the "brown shell", so the placement was different. So that prevented me from copying you.
FalconMan: NO WAY!
Clone Kid: Parts list and instructions can't be too hard, do people like this that much?

That little tiny teeny weeny ship ROCKS. Now just give it a few decades......."Lot number 201, a vintage MOC by Leonardo Junsier. I guess it would be Chubbz-status if I threw in a Boba head over the cockpit. _________________
