Received the MTT from a web shop located in France, took 4 days to arrive. The first thing I noticed is the size of the box, it’s quite large. All photos are 1600x1200!

Front view of the box:

Side view with the Droids on it:
http://www.omegaforces.com/html/mtt/IMG_5678.jpg

Back of the box:

http://www.omegaforces.com/html/mtt/IMG_5680.jpg

The bags:
http://www.omegaforces.com/html/mtt/IMG_5682.jpg

The big pile of lego:
http://www.omegaforces.com/html/mtt/IMG_5688.jpg

What surprised me was the state the 2 manuals where in. I think that Lego should make sure this cannot happen:
http://www.omegaforces.com/html/mtt/IMG_5689.jpg
2 manuals are supplied:
http://www.omegaforces.com/html/mtt/IMG_5690.jpg

This was the first time I had the feeling I was not working on a Star Wars set, must be the brown color. Construction is easy and the manuals are perfectly clear, no errors that I could find.

Some more photos:

The base of the model and work in progress:

http://www.omegaforces.com/html/mtt/IMG_5719.jpg

The sliding construction for the droid cargo:
http://www.omegaforces.com/html/mtt/IMG_5707.jpg
http://www.omegaforces.com/html/mtt/IMG_5730.jpg

A lot of droids:
http://www.omegaforces.com/html/mtt/IMG_5727.jpg

A lot of weapons:
http://www.omegaforces.com/html/mtt/IMG_5731.jpg

Ready for action:
http://www.omegaforces.com/html/mtt/IMG_5737.jpg
http://www.omegaforces.com/html/mtt/IMG_5740.jpg
http://www.omegaforces.com/html/mtt/IMG_5728.jpg

Conclusion:
This is clearly a “play” model and not really for display. If you want to display it you will need to take out all the droids and vehicles and put them aside the MTT, else you will be looking at a big brown block of lego. The model rolls on 6 wheels and it rolls really smooth. The design itself is really nice and if you want to have lots of droids and weapons this is the model to get.

My only remarks/disappointments are:
• Manuals got folded inside the box.
• No opening droids after the droid carrier is extracted (like what is shown in the commercial). Seems to me it should be possible.
• Droids with a weapon in their hand cannot stand on flat surface, only if you bend the body backwards it will be in balance but that looks really strange.

Yea, why isnt there a photo of the MTT itself?

That said, the review is great! you basically showed us every aspect of the lego set. Smile its a must buy for me!

just a quick question:
what is the piece count of the set (if its written anywhere), and how long did u take to build it? Smile

I spoke to someone at S@H today and he assured me that 7661 and 7662 will be released in the UK in June and will cost £29.99 and £99.99 respectively. Take it for whats its worth, these people have been known to get things wrong.

Hmm loooks like 7661 (starfighter with kit fisto) is cheaper than it should be, if 7662 is at 100 quid. Well I guess we should just wait Smile

I'm almost certain the MTT will cost £80, like the ISD last year, which had a similar piece count. Also I reckon that 7661 will be £50.

I actually think the MTT will cost £100 and 7661 £50, i.e. basically everything is going to be USD pricing except that we change the $-sign to the £-sign. My rationale being it looks like last year (2006)'s sets are relatively cheaper compared to the january 07 sets (e.g. slave1 £40/$50 vs imperial shuttle £50/$50), so I think the 07 pricing will stick.

MTT is going to be $100, 7661 at $50 and 7660 at $30
Prices are written on the pictures at NY toy fair.
Basically, u guys are getting a (relatively) good deal even with max. tax (~8.75%) so no worries Smile And you get thanksgiving discounts too Smile

Methinks that inflation/the fact that the pound is so strong has something to do with the high UK costs, but we still pay twice as much as we should do...

£1 = $2

LEGO:

£1 = $1

Sad

I hope your right about the price for the MTT, but I think the price you quote for 7661 is more likely than what the S@H guy said, unfortunately Sad

Well, at Toy Fair they said August, but since it looks like the sets are pretty much ready I would expect them sooner, like July.

Really not a huge deal and bound to happen in a set that big. It's not like you have a Roger Clemons or David Beckham Rookie Card. There is not a huge demand for "mint" with sharp corners and sharp edges Lego Instruction Manuals. Relax...

I take your point here OBJ but I think if you are paying a lot of money (which people are for many of the lego sets now) the least you should expect is that the contents (including instructions) arrive in good shape. I would be slightly disappointed too.

June! I can't believe they are waiting until June to offer it on their website. I can't wait another month!
They are losing out to this french company who are getting the jump on S@H.
You'd think someone in their marketing department would say "Hey, Lets get the product out there so we can start making lots of bread".

If U.K gets it in June, then so does Australia and Europe.
U.S will probably get it earlier.
If what happened in Late Dec/Early Jan with the first lot of 2007 sets (7654-7659) is anything to go by, I noticed that these sets appeared on U.S/Canada sites a few days before Euro/Aus.
Some sets turned up in U.S Lego stores a week or so before that even!

The JediSF and Naboo Fighter I can have patience for.
It's the MTT and the Hoth Base that I would like to purchase ASAP. And September looks like the release date for the latter!

Aaargh!!! A month of waiting...

I want my MTT...

Edit: I noticed the right arms on the new battle droids are different to the standard to hold the blasters upright.
That is way cool, but annoying that now I will have droids holding guns sideways and then the proper way.
I feel that Lego should have at least brought out the MTT style droids in the BP's (And guns, not megaphones). I'm sure they had the idea to have arms holding blasters upright when they designed the new guns...
