Super top-secret, my friend. Super top-secret.

That reminds me, shouldn't we be doing something as mayors? Razz

You, sir, imply that the best model did not win. Instead, the winner was a lesser model that was agreed by more judges to be a "good model".

A good model that followed the guide lines, won, rather than a great model that did NOT follow the guidlines?

Not really. Everyone has their own opinion, even the judges. It was based one which ones WE thought could be the next X-Wing. Not which one was the biggest. Or best.

And really, out of all of the entries, the top five IMHO, were the best models put out there for the contest.

Indeed, quality was a big factor. But if you entered an exactly to scale and perfectly built X-wing, you would have failed miserably. I don't think there were very many that were as good as the winners, in fact, close behind them were Spook and Schism. This is a contest that needed to have judges, because a lot of people would just vote for the coolest, whether or not it was following the guidelines closely.

I personally stand by my choices, and I have no problem defending the final top five choices of the judges. IMHO, those five entries are top notch models, with or without the fact that they do fit the guidelines more than others.

Aside from that, one important aspect to remember is that the guidelines of the contest were public from the get go, and contestants knew up front what they were getting into. As a judge, I cannot help it if some decided to test the boundaries of those guidelines as I understood them.

That's the problem with gambling: sometimes you win, but sometimes you loose.

So, IMHO, the best models of this competition won. Congrats to all the winners, and hat off to all the contestants for their great entries!

EDIT : To those who have asked me (whether publicly or privately) for some more comments on their entry, check your PM box! Mystery Machine, I'll get to your request in the nest few days, as I want to review yours in details. Wink
