That's pretty cool. I may have to get an extra R2 to do just that. Wink

nicely done, did you just cut those strait off the dome, or was the center dot transplanted in? I don't have one with ma, and I forget how it looks underneath...

Wow! Forget light-up lightsabers, THAT'S an idea LEGO needs to use for the Star Wars line. Smile

That's incredibly impressive, Pepa. Can you do us all a favor and go into the gory details of how you did this?

Well I suppose it's not too hard, BUT you need to be really, really, really careful. You can't saw off the little side things on the dome (like with a Dremel), because then you'd reduce most of them to sawdust. So I used a very sharp exacto-type knife and slowly made the cuts. You definately want to go slowly so you won't cut yourself, of course, but also so that you can cut in a straight line. The first few cuts on any of the four sides are vital, because the blade will follow the groove you cut after that. I suppose it probably took about a half hour for me to cut all the pieces off.

After the pieces were off, I super-glued them to the body. I used a small pair of tweezers to hold them in place (and so I wouldn't get any glue on my fingers!!) and I did not use a lot of glue - just a few dabs on the parts which would touch the body and the studs on top. The glue set very fast and after it was dry I carefully scraped off any excess.

That's it! The center post which remains in the dome is more then enough to secure the head onto the body, and now a swivel motion is easy.

Currently I'm calling this the 'Swivel-Me-Artoo'. But if that makes anyone retch I'll change it.
Maybe. Wink

Very nice idea!

at first i thought you had used a swivel plate, and rounded it out, but that would be TOO swively... like the new LULS heads...

Grand idea!

Okay, I have to ask, because I can't tell...what parts did you use exactly, besides an R2... Embarassed

Sorry but the only dumb question is the one not asked right? ::D:
