I got slave 1 yesterday and built it. I must say it looks very nice. Even though I have the old slave 1, this is much better looking and is much more to scale. It is still fairly small as well. I was most impressed with the hidden weapon bays. The only gripes I have with it are:
the big gap underneath the cockpit section that mounts onto the wings.
The way the carbonite block goes into the ship is a bit dodgy as the door underneath just keeps dropping down when the block is in place. So I have taken it out.

Look 9/10
Representation to film 10/10
Build 8/10
Build time 5/10 this is because even though the instructions are clear, all the colour differences between the grey, white and black plates got a bit confusing in the manual.
Swoosh 7/10 because of the bulkiness in it's design. You can swoosh it but it all depends on where you manage to grip it on the back.
Prices per parts well not sure on this. As I picked it up from TRU for $100 AUD.

Nice strait to the point review Very Happy though you should add swoosh factor (how fun it is to swish around in your hand) and pieces( on price point).

Yeah well I didn't bother putting swoosh as it is bulky and a little unwielding to hold. If not gripped properly it can fall out of your hand and into the floor.

This probably belongs in Set Reviews.

Anyway, good review. I may consider getting this if I get enough money/see it on sale.

That's what I was gonna say. Hopefully a MOD will give this thread a little kick over the fence into "Set Reviews". Wink

This set is quite good, altough I get scared about that missle hitting my own eye never mind aiming it at someone else.

Overall:

Good Build
Good Figures
Good Price

So amazing I think its worthy of a 8.5/10

If my cockpit window didnt have a black spot molded into it and the missle didnt exist and so creates more room inside 9.5/10

Ah yes the good old 6209. My personal favourite SWL minifig model. I highly recommend that every Bothan:
1. Acquire at least one copy of this set.
2. Promptly take steps to remove the Technic cannon.
3. Marvel at the space suddenly available to make it movie accurate.
4. Make it movie accurate.
5. Shamelessly plug yourself on someone else's 6209 thread because yours has long since been forgotten.
6. Nod at Flail.
7. Rinse
8. Repeat if necassary.

6209 is a cool set, but as every official Set it's just not perfect. One thing that really annoyed me about the original set was that the wings rotate automatically when you turn the ship. I want them to rotate only when I want them to rotate!

I highly recommend follow Ara's instructions. Here's what I made out of 6209.

Thanks for the nod Stefan. I also recommend seniorgronk's UCSish scale models for interior ideas.

You can't call mine a mod, but still you can build quite a few things outta this. Of course, I just BL'd most of the parts, but those gigantonormous brown slopes are hawt. The cockpit is completely off scale, so it's not close to minifig scale (a whopping two feet off ::D: ), but it's a nice "system-y" scale version. Anyways, since everyone was posting versions, I thought I'd throw in mine:

Basically those brown slopes are directly proportional to the cockpit, so I guess they're pretty useful. I never actually bought the set (50 bucks!), but I did buy quite a lot of it of BrickLink, so some of the pieces are useful. I also like the Bespin figure, nice feature for the set.

The Slave 1, this version of it. is my supafavourite Lego Star Wars ship (out of those that I own anyway). I'm glad I didn't get the previous two versions (though tempted) and this version finally hit the spot for me. I know, some parts are still very imperfect and we we all want a Wookiee dissection chamber and force-sensitive prison, but those elements are optional for me. The sheer improvement in terms of colour, outer appearance and scale is something I appreciate.

Of course, Junsier's Slave 1 has a cooler interior and looks great (despite the chunkiness) Smile

Scratch my other comments out, if you're looking to build an exact minifig scale Slave I, the cockpit fits the exact measurements, creepy.
