Boy all the finalists creations look amazing. I'm always floored at what other people can come up with. How complete things can look.

I wish to congratularte all of you who entered great entries and especially the finalsists Wink A big BRAVO to you guys !!

I voted for Legohaulic's fighter because IMO it was the "purest" design: it had all the needed greebles without overdoing it, the colour pattern is really nice and that big gun gives the perfect R shape Wink

Anyhow, it was a tough choice !!

my vote went to Mark if for no other reason that he pulled off a perfectly beautiful and obvious "R" while creating a gracefull and beautiful ship that could quite easily fit into the SW universe. plus, its orange, and that took guts. bravo, and congrats to everyone.

and Legohaulic, you'd win second in my book for reasons already mentioned by countless others.

I voted for Porschecm2's just because it has the most complete formula (almost perfect) for this contest, IMO...
Yet I loved few other ones too, it was hard to pick a favorite, really! Many of the entries are winners in my book.... So, congratulations to all...

My vote went to Porschecm2 too, because I think it'd be the one that would be integrated in the whole alphabet project the most seamlessly.

But choosing in these contests is getting harder and harder; so much good stuff! Congratulations to everyone who entered and all the hard work they've poured into these wonderful creations.

I think Ace had some ESP when he was putting up the poll, stunning how it worked out so sequentially.

I agree with the comments made that porschem's R is the most in line with Jon Palmer's collection with mark staffords following close, but my favourite out of the 5 is Fmoo's. It's just so mean and heavily armed with a nice tight cockpit. Although not really star war's orientated but still the best R in my opinion. I'm surprised he didn't get more votes but you got mine, good luck!!

Unofficial Voting Results 8/29/2006 11:00am:
1 Adrenaline
4 amethyst
1 apophisV

1 donner1846
1 dwhisper
7 fmoo
1 gold_2
7 legohaulic
3 lt. kettch
7 Mark Stafford
3 porschecm2
2 renegade
1 rogue bantha
9 schism
1 the champ
2 ThePlasticJedi
2 tzidik

Clearly, we can see that this contest will result in a three way tie between fmoo, legohaulic and Mark Stafford since the leader Schism did not make it to the final five.

Interesting way to look at it, but I'm sure there's more to it than that. But I would like to thank everyone who showed support for my MOC, even if it wasn't selected.

Still, I would like it to be known that I don't approve of the last-minute change in procedure. From the beginning, this contest was billed as a democratically-run affair. I would find this whole thing much easier to swallow if my MOC had been excluded from the Top Five by a couple hundred people, instead of by just one.

But I don't want to sound bitter. Ace still put on a great contest, and we all owe him some gratitude.

100% agreed. Each of the Chosen Five have a distinct style, and porschecm's was definately the best match for the Alphabet Project.

But in the end, my vote went to Dennis' (Fmoo's) MOC. It's definately R-shaped without overdoing it, and it's got a great military-style to it, plus a very inventive cockpit. Heavy armor and weapons? Love it.

I voted for porschem's, probably because (as many have pointed out) it fits in best with the pre-existing project.

I originally was vastly disappointed that I did not have time to build an R-Wing and enter this contest. Given the amazing quality of the entries (and especially the top five!), however, I am kind of glad I didn't - how embarrasing it would have been to pit whatever pathetic thing I came up with against these!

Great stuff, everyone.

Never saw that thread, but to those three who liked myR-Wing: I owe you all cookies Wink

I voted for Mark Stafford's in the end... though choosing between his and Legohaulic's was tough. Still... ORANGE! Very Happy

I want that much orange. Sad Mine's all being used on my Mustafar Installation right now... which has fallen into disrepair. I really should do something about that. And I should stop rambling as well. [/list]

Congrats, Legohaulic for being the big weiner. Smile

as a side note, i kinda wished there was a pirate themed ship, or even one centered around an r2 droid as the pilot.

Congratulations, Legohaulic! I won't lie to you; you didn't get my vote, but you definately deserve this win. I had a hard time choosing among the Top Five, which speaks volumes of the collective talent we have on this site.

And of course, thanks go out to Ace for organizing this little contest. As always, I'm looking forward to seeing what you've got in store for us in the future.

Same here.

I personally voted for porschecm2...his was the most realistic in terms of Jon P. Style. But Legohaulic's was probably the most well-shaped. Smile I liked all of the entries.

I also can't wait to see what Onions has in store for us this month.

I would have voted for the one that won if it wasn't a requisite of the contest that the winner look like an "R", or even remotely resemble a Star Wars craft.

Its an AMAZING piece of design, and honest to god I think its beautiful... tons of greebles, as far as I can see entirely SNOT... but saying it looks like an "R" is a stretch of the imagination (an "A" maybe...).

Oh well. Smile Good job though. It looks fantastic.
