I am suprised that so few people voted in on this contest. I was expecting at least 500 votes, given the size of the community. Oh well!

Actually, if you look at past contest, 212 votes is a lot. In the past there were around 100 votes total. This contest had twice that.

Anyway, great job to all and congrats Fmoo! Two times now the person I voted for won Wink

Yeah Donner, this was quite a turn out. Remember, the size of the community doesn't mean that the community is actually that large. We may have 2000 members but at least 1000 of those members have posted either once or never before. Some members are just lurkers who only stop in on occassion. I would say there are about 100 frequent members here so double that is pretty good!

I was way off on my 'guessitmate'. Shocked
I had no idea that there were "lurkers" that sign up but never participate. Sad
Don't these people like the rest of us. I find the conversations on this site quite entertaining and these contests very exciting. Very Happy

Or ... does this mean there is something wrong with me? Sad

A lot of them may have just left, or forgot they signed up. This is a very good turnout for the voting.

Fmoo for the win, come on you straglers!

Actually, round 2 voting ended two days ago. With the way that Ace is doing it now I think no one can vote after the deadline so Fmoo is the winner.

For anyone that's wondering, here's the tally of votes for previous contests including this one:

AT-AT Head- 106 Votes
Mini Sandcrawler- 96 Votes
Web Comic- 122 Votes
Void Fighter- 143 Votes
B-Wing Finalists- 122 Votes

Vignette Finalists- 218 Votes!!!

I hope members are happy that we've gotten practically double the votes from previous contests! Thanks for voting everyone!

Yeah Fmoo! I was with you all the way. Very Happy

Still, everyone had some awesome vigs. It's pretty hard to pack so much detail into so little space. Congrats!

Thanks everyone for a fun contest. It was great to see so many people participating with their most excellent entries, and it was nice to see more people visiting, commenting and voting (I saw the contest posted in at least two Lego blogs, which I think gave some nice visibility). I hope this contest has inspired everyone to do more building. If you pull out your bricks and take the time to build something of your very own, you're already a winner in my book! Mr. Green

Re: Donner1846's request for people to write about how they chose their vigs:

I was originally planning on just building Darth Vader's entrance, since Darth Vader has been one of my favorite characters since childhood, and this scene is one that I loved the most (well, there's also the following scene where he chokes the rebel...). After going through the scene many times to pick out the details from the movie, the idea popped in my head to combine this with the Leia+R2(+3P0) scene to try to convey the entire story sequence. The tricky part was to build this such that the whole thing didn't look like two vigs slapped together. So I tried to build both the top and bottom with the same Tantive IV hallway styling, and I also attempted to give the whole thing an interesting overall shape so that the vig didn't look like a giant block. The whole thing took about 2 weeks to figure out what I was going to build, a full day to build and revise the details, and several hours to do the pics.

Thanks again everyone.

Dennis

Congrats Fmoo, 'twas a very cool entry - however my vote went to Big_X - your victory is still well deserved though. Nice one.

And on another note, I was trying to do a SSD in small scale and had almost figured a way that diddent look pooy.
I then read this thread and as there was no ban on scale ships I thought I'd try a bit harder and give it a go.
I re-created one of my favorite scenes from Jedi, and I think it worked well - 2 votes is better than none.

Mr Fmoo, Congratulations on winning. I love your lighting effect casting the red light on Leia. Nicely done.

This was a great contest that pulled in lots of interest and I had a great time building.

As for my decision for this scene, I was wanting to show the real fall to the dark side, Han's Fall, just kidding. I thought it was a great intement moment that was interjected with humor and really set up many other scenes. It captured 3 figures in a tight space and lent itself to lots of greedibles. Only after building did I realize that the bulk of the greedibles are hidden behind Leia and Han. Oh well I spent hours on that wall only to cover it up, but it is there and fairly accurate. If only I had been able to use decals and cut parts, :D. Serious I had a great time with this contest and hope everyone else did as well. Actually I liked Ace's rules as it made me think "Inside the Box." Glad there was such a great voting, I don't think I have seen a thread with so many viewings.

Again congrats to Fmoo and to Ace for a successful contest.

congrats fmoo!

But I still think big x's was the best! Very Happy

I made my scene because it was one of the most important scenes of episode III, wich combines the PT with the OT. Also, the V-wings making the sounds of a TIE, makes it really feel like a early empire. I designed my vif while I was in class Very Happy

Congratulations Fmoo! A well deserved win. Smile

And, though a little late, thanks to the three people that voted for me. With so many great vignettes, that's much more then I was hoping for. So thanks, I appreciate it. Smile

Congratulations to everyone who entered the contest and especially to fmoo on a well deserved win! The detail in your vig was amazing and your photography was great too.

This is how I chose the scene I wanted to portray. While I was thinking about a vignette to make for this contest, the elevator scene came into my head. I thought that the dimensions would be perfect to fit the scene in and the lack of a vertical limit allowed me to build up. It was a lot of fun to design and build, and now I have many ideas for other vignettes. Thanks Ace for a wonderful contest!

Hey,

Even though I was one of the ones with no votes Crying or Very sad (jk) this was a really fun contest. As probably many of you know I've got a blog highlighting vig creations: VignetteBricks, and so I always love it when a contest like this spurs great vignette creations. Congratulations to Dennis. For me it was the lighting that just pushed this one over the top. It's also such an iconic image from the first movie that helped make such an impact. Congratulations to all the finalists - they were all awesome and I could have easily seen any one of these win. Thanks, Onions, for hosting this. Oh, one thing, you should add the gallery with the contest entries to the LEGO vignettes pool on Flickr.

Major congrats Fmoo and Kam! Truly inspiring vigs. Every time I stop to admire them, I am surprised be genius little details that make me think about building differently; this is the mark of master builders. With the record votes and already early enthusiasm demonstrated for a second vig contest, I am sure we would see some epic entries and a much higher caliber build from everyone. Doesn't really matter for me, I'm stoked for the next contest, whatever it is.

Thanks for another great contest Ace! These builds have rekindled my love for building mocs (big project in the works), instead of just mounting my collection on a shelf to collect dust. Awesome job everyone Smile !

Congratulation Fmoo for the win and Kaminoan for such a close second! Both these vigs were fantastic and really showed excellent building, good photography, captured personalities and had a 'SW feel' that made them very special.

Big-X - beat me at the last (well 3 days before the last, but you get the point!) I almost made an exploding speeder-bike scene too! Though I doubt I'd have done it as well as you managed! Congratulations.

Bohrak's your vig is great, capturing a scene from the new trilogy with gusto and skill.

I have a short list of vigs that are my favourites. (If youíre not here that is not a slight, these are just my personal favourites, some of the others may have been better MOCs but were let down by the photoís or just didnít seem Star Wars-ish to me personally, hence thereís not a lot of new trilogy MOCs here!) As well as the four other finalists I smiled at or was amazed by: yellost, privateeye2004, mattm0220, jp30, joeedward, imhotepidus, bwu, bruce n h, rebelrock, d1 and kingfinger. Thanks to you guys, all the other entrants, onions and FBTB for making such a fun contest to watch and be part of!

I'm proud to have placed so high, thanks to my 37 voters. See you next time!

Cheers,
Mark.
