If anyone has any requests on cloth accessories (capes/pauldrons/waist capes/etc) that they would like to see made, put your ideas/thoughts in here. If possible try and include some sort of reference picture/link.

NOTE: This topic is not for your ordering pleasure.

Cheers,
MMCB

Jetrooper0256:
That's not really a cloth accessory, it would basically be just a piece of painted plasti-card or similar.

Dperic8:
Gauntlets and arm bands would probably be to small and fidly to work well. Not to mention the problem you would have trying to keep them in place.

I like the idea of a weapon strap/ammo belt/bandolier(sp?). Any ideas on how you could attach a weapon to it without gluing it?

On a side note:
Does anyone have any idea on where I could find reference pictures of all the cloth accessories Lego has made (Vampire Cape?? etc...)?

Keep the great ideas coming peoples.
Cheers,
MMCB

Would this help at all? It's 3 pages of all the fabric pieces and then some, including a lot you probably don't want– capes are on page 2.

Some things that I've wanted to see:

-SnowTrooper Belt Cape. (Like the regular cape only it's smaller and made to fit over the studs on the legs that slide into the torso.)

-Duster (Looks like Han's Endor jacket. It would basicaly be the cape made with two extra holes for the arms of the figure which would also be the same color as the cloth to make them look like their sleaves from the jacket.)

-Mini Cape (A cape that is smaller and seems to drape over one shoulder like Boba Fett's cape.)

-Poncho (Like the HP grave yard capes only shorter and painted light tan and blue for Luke and young Boba in EPII)

I'll edit with some ref pics when I get a chance.

Also:

On your amo belt idea, what about a backpack based item like the Lea Slave pack which conects the chain to her, only with a griping stud like the back of the Ninja Cowel? The Dengar fig also has this and I conect his blaster in the back and looks like it's slung over his shoulder.

Also what do you think about something smilar to this to go over the studs for the legs which can have a conecter stud infront of the fig to clip LS into for Jedi figs? It wouldn't allow the fig to sit at all but while standing they could have a neat Lightsaber hanging from there belt this way.

Just some thoughts. Please forgive the fact that I don't know what all these peaces are called.

Just to let you know, mmcb has made versions similar to, if not exactly what you are talking about so you should checkout his Brickshelf Gallery to see what he has made.

-SnowTrooper Belt Cape. - waist cape

-Duster Well the closest would be a Jedi Robe or a trenchcoat

-Mini Cape Mandalorian Cape

-Poncho Poncho

Well I have allways wanted to see some kind of cloth hood to use instead of the lego version but I don't know how it would work because it would require some pretty drastic folding and the shape would probably be hard to get.

Brick Fett:
Thanks for the ideas Brick Fett, but yeah, as Commander Appo very nicely pointed out (thanks), they've already been done. As for your other ideas....

Attaching studs/plates to cloth isn't very easy. The bond would be very very weak so it wouldn't really be worth it.

Commander-Appo:
Alot of people have been asking for a cloth hood. I currently have a couple of issues with doing something like that, the main one been the complexity of the design (especially as a standalone piece, ie: not attached to a robe/cloak).
The other issue I have is that everything I make (maybe with one or 2 exceptions) stays with the offical Legoish design. A cloth hood starts going into the realm of excessive accessories (ie: something that Lego themselves would never make), just like my Tion Medon jacket. Does that make sense!!

Cheers,
MMCB

PS: I am currently working a few new designs, so keep your eyes open Wink

How about this idea I just had pop into my head, minifig skirts Smile It could be like a round bit of fabric that wraps around the minifig and goes halfway down the leg (or alternatly all the way down Wink ) And attaches similar to the command skirt. I could see this potentally being a pain to do, but it could also be rather simple if done right.... Smile

That's all I have for now

Darth Gundam
I've come up with atleast one design for that so far:
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=142448

It still needs a little tweeking, but the overall design concept is there.

Thanks for your suggestions though, I really appreciate them.

There could be 2 ways of making a layered cape Adi.

1) Use different pieces of fabric for each layer. The only downside of this is that it would be far too thick around the neck area.

2) Paint the different layers on. Very doable, but I don't think the end result would look all that great.

Might have a bit more of a think about this one.
Cheers,

You could sow the top two layers onto the full base cape just before it conects to the neck part.

I had an idea of a cape that covers the body completely, below the neck. Like Imperial guards wear, so does Grievous in the Clone Wars animated series.

I think that's a good idea, Wat, you could have something like mmcb's Bail cape, but coming over the arms, and having slits down the front for the arms like the Imperial guards.

no one's saying a pistol has to fit in the holsters, but that would be nice....

why not make....

-a clone trooper ammo belt with velcro to hold the two ends together. you could also add on to it with other attatchments.

-a parachute

-some boots

-a neck tie

-army berrets

-if possible an oxygen mask
