I think what the rules mean is that you post a 640x480 picture in here and then link to the gallery with the rest of your pictures.

you could have one single picture if you wanted to, but that would only work to your disadvantage.

Is it allowed, or would it be any disadvantage(to me) to put my pics on brickshelf (but not post the link here) before March 24?

No, Ace is going to be perusing Brickshelf on an hourly basis to make sure people don't upload their pictures early. He will also be looking on Maj, Flickr, and Photobucket. If he sees pictures uploaded on there, he will immediately use his s00p3r 133t sk1llz to find out who uploaded them and what their username is on FBTB, and subsequently BAN THEM TO HECK!!!11!!ONE!!!!!!!!!

In the words of 4th Grade Collin: "No doy."

EDIT: Okay, looking back now, I realize that may come off as sounding mean. I apologize if it does, but that's not how it was intended. Smile Let me answer you seriously now:

No, you will not be disqualified if you upload your pictures early onto Brickshelf or wherever you're hosting them. As long as they are not posted here, you're all right.

As for whether or not it would be disadvantagemonous to you, that's really up to you. Do you have some kind of incredibly awesome and unique design that you really don't want anyone to copy for the contest? If so, I would wait until it's time to actually post your entry in here before you upload it anywhere online. But like I said before, that's completely up to you.

The other aspect of finishing your model early and uploading pics is that you'll be cutting yourself short on time. Past contests, there would be a handful of people that would be in such a rush to post an entry, would have something up by the 7th day, only to want to change their entry 2 weeks later.

I've imposed a three week embargo on accepting entries for this very reason. It's a lot of time to get your model just right.

The wording implies you can only use one set. Besides, using multiples would skew the contest into a test of how much money someone has rather than using his/her creativity with only a "sealed deck".

Quote:
Using your one copy of the 6208 B-wing Fighter set, build an alternate model using only pieces available in the set. You may use as many or as few of the available pieces.

Alright, I'll be gone on Spring Break on the 22nd, so can I have a close friend post MY entry, since I want to enter the contest? Otherwise, I won't enter, because I won't have computer access.

Yeah, this is the first contest of its kind here. But if you're looking to see alternate models built from other sets, check out the Star Wars MOCs forum. There's a couple posts in there featuring some really spiffy alternate models built from smaller sets like the Snowspeeder.

Maybe this is a stupidly obvious question, but it just occurred to me. Do entries have to belong in the Star Wars universe, or are we free to make anything as long as it fits the System/vehicle/minifig pilot requirements , per the above? (As a hypothetical example, say, would an alternate model that's a Ronald McDonald-shaped mecha be allowed? ::D:)

I've made cool little accessories that go with the ship. Can I put them on or beside them, or can you just make a ship? Razz

I was wondering that myself. I made a stand for mine with the black and yellow pieces leftover.

Man oh man! I just had to say, this contest rocks! Very Happy I spent some time building this weekend and after banging my head on the coffee table with a few false starts, finally got going with a good idea and am absolutely thrilled with the results. Now, this isn't a "toot my own horn" post– I wanted to congratulate onions on an awesome idea, especially for someone like me who literally doesn't usually have the physical space to MOC anything up. After the initial "what the heck am I going to do?" moments, I've found that having to limit myself to parts from a certain set has really helped my building process. Rather than moping about how I don't have enough space to sort through or use my brick collection, I simply set myself out the B-Wing's pieces on the coffee table, a relatively small area, and went to work. Now that was a blast and I honestly never felt constricted.

Anyway, blah blah blah. My point is, this contest is a BLAST and, considering the pieces restriction, I can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with. Very Happy

accessories are a-okay. stands, missile racks, prisoner container, whatever you got is okay, as long as the main model is your alternate moc.

make sense?

you should rename it on your own computer before you upload them. it's like renaming any other file. just make sure you preserve the 3 letter extension.
