I think the reason we have so few votes compared to the Custom of the Week contest is because people have to register, too much hassle for some. Difficult to find an easy yet secure voting solution.

If the current tie keeps up, perhaps there should be a vote strictly between the two finalists- so all 100 or so votes will be focused on those two.

Darn, if it wasn't for this extra day... Good job on getting those last minute votes, brickshipyard.

I would think that onions withheld his vote, incase of a tie, to be the tie breaker.

Remember, if you build to win you will always lose. If you build to enjoy and share you will always win.

That didn't really work out for me though, unless you mean i won because i accomplished what i wanted to do and had fun doing it (too confusing to explain). Very Happy

I mean no offense by this whatsoever, but your model really couldn't compete with some of the more detailed and bigger work entered in the contest. From what I've seen I think your main problem is that your collection just isnt big enough to offer the versatility necessary to compete with the kind of fan that can make an AT-AT head out of gray plates.

Some people have larger or smaller collections than others, but what can you do?

Exactly. Being part of a forum, creating models and sharing your models with others is what these competitions should be about not gaining a prize. The prize should be individual achievement. We all learn in life that there is ALWAYS someone better at everything than ourselves but that doesn't me we are failures or bad luck or our creations stink.

I guess it's just because I have inly 4 or 5 LSW sets, mainly because I don't have the time to get more. Next time, instead of entering for more sets, I'll do it for fun. That way, I can deal with what I have. Very Happy Thanks for a fun contest Smile Good luck brickshipyard and Crawdaddy!

donrayiv, just keep building and have fun. You will definitely improve over time. Smile Also, don't feel too bad if you have just a few sets. You might not be able to build huge ships, but I'm sure you can build some pretty cool alts with what you have.

People have done it before. Checkout these guys' galleries for some inspiration:

Darkkazmo's SW alts, built using only SW sets:

Nathanael Kuiper's alts, which were built from individual Designer sets:

Darkkazmo makes awesome mocs when he builds something with a set amount of pieces.

well i certainly wasn't expecting a tie.... oh boy.

i didn't have a contingency plan in case of a tie. note to self: make contingency plan for a tie for next contest.

i'll be back in a day after i figure out what to do. congrats to the vote leaders.

I would suggest taking the top three from the votes and having a short (2-3 day) vote for them.

how would re-voting on the top 3 be fair if suddenly lights pulled ahead when he has half the votes of the leaders?

maybe a vote for the two who are tied, but (no offense to lights) giving the obvious 3rd place a second chance at 1st place isn't remotely fair to anyone.

good luck figuring this one out, Ace. Smile i wouldn't want to be in your shoes.

Nah, I wouldn't sweat it too much. Whatever he decides is cool, even if it means a showdown between me and brickshipyard in a LEGO build-off to the death!

Thanks everyone for voting and for a great contest.

A showdown between you and I, .. to the death using legos! Razz Heck Yes! :D

Even though you are joking, there are some possibilities in what you say. A tie breaker does seem like the right approach, but whatever Ace decides is also cool with me.

You guys are the best and I appreciate all of your votes and praises. Entering this contest has been a great experience for me so thanks.

Crawdaddy, I must say those recoiling guns are hot! Nice build.

May the force be with us.

this is a lego duel to the death. You each build a gun, backs to eachother, take 10 steps, and then turn around and shoot. The last one standing wins.

or you stand against each other, with distance, wait until the clock ticks 3 times, and then shoot.

That's the way we do it in ye old west YYYYEEEEEHHHAAAAA!!!!!! ::D:

i have made my decision. i lacked the foresight when setting up the contest to have contingency plan in place in case there was a tie. but why should any of you have to suffer the consequences for my mistake. therefore, i am declaring two 1st place winners. congratulations to Crawdaddy and brickshipyard. check your inboxes for a PM from me.

there were a lot of good entries. I had hoped the total vote count was a little higher, but i suppose not everyone is up to browsing a gallery 20x over. hopefully the next contest will see a higher voter turnout.
