After seeing the upcoming Lego mini of this ship, I decided to try my hand at my own. The folder isn't public yet but here's a deeplink pic so you can check it out.

You guys might remember the custom mini-fig size JSF2 that I made last summer. If not, you can check the folder out here:

Thanks. Yeah, I figured the official one got away without r2 so maybe I could too, heh. Also, I'm still trying to figure out some kind of decal solution to the windshield. Or maybe I'll try to come across a clear tinted piece like the LEGO version. In any case, here's a couple more angles for you guys' to check out. Just click on the thumbs:

Isn't R2 on the right side?
Either way, a 1x1 could fit right next to the 1x2 smooth panel...
Whatever. It's your creation, dm.

Much better than the official.

You can get a tinted one of those wierd slopes in one of the x-pods.

You should make the wedges under the 1x4 tiles dark grey instead of yellow. The official sets are wrong in having too much yellow there and not enough DG

That is very good. I was a great fan of your fig scale version, so this surprised me. Fantastic work!

Why couldn't Lego's version be that good? There's is far too wide, and you got it just right! Perhaps you could have a go at some of the other Episode III ships? I'd like to see someone try and ARC-170 and a Clone Turbo Tank.

Yeah what gareth said. The yellow x-pod has the smokey-clear windscreen you're looking for.

I really like the Mini, it is just the right size.

Question: On your mini-fig scale JSF, did you custom paint the windshield?

Very splendid job! It's so much better than the upcoming official one. Just get a hold of that small smoke-colored piece for the windshield and it will be flawless. Nice work!

That is one neat-looking custom. Might just be me but I think it looks just a tad to wide. Anyway I agree, better then the official one

Your minifig one looks a lot cooler than the system set. The custom printing on the windscreen came out especially well

I think you need to lose the r2 body tho.

Hey everyone, thanks for all the feedback! I'm on the hunt as we speak for that green X-Pod.

And, yeah, I'm going to have to revisit the Artoo on my Mini-fig fighter. Wink

Also, with a little luck, I should have another E3 mini to share with you all by the end of the week!

I've seen it few days ago on Brickshelf, and I salute you for it.

Bravo.

Indeed a very nice approach. I was just about to finish my own version when I saw your great model. So I will wait until the movie comes out. Wink

Good job!

A bit larger than I thought it would be, but awesome regardless. The proportions are much better than the offical mini. I like how you did the cockpit, the 2 x 2 round plate works well with the curved slopes. I also like how you attached the wings. Very nice!
