Ok. I just haven't heard of it in a very long time, and usually only in discussions about racism and civil rights and stuff like that. |
If you confine your sources of media to MSNBC and CNN I promise you will never hear that term. |
If you only have sources of media like Fox News, you get opinions like yours. _________________

Well, I'm not going to comment on the actual ceremony here, nor on the merits of (now) President Obama, but for the first time in my life (I'm 34), many people I know actually wanted to see the inauguration of the president.
How does that make that moment special? Well, you gotta remember that I'm Canadian here, so those people I mentioned are also Canadians.
I think that says a lot about the historic importance of that ceremony, no matter what your political views are. _________________

I'm waiting for your own " " or "haha!" to reassure me that you weren't serious about the comment I quoted above. Note I didnt say anything about Palin. Believe it or not, I voted for Obama even though I'm a republican.
But to say one candidate is better than another who can't lift his arms above his head? |
I had hoped the tone of my post would have shown it was a joke, but alas that didn't work. I wasn't saying in any way that my reason for disliking McCain/rooting for Obama had anything to do with McCain's inability to lift his arms above his head - I'm not that shallow. As I said above, I base my thoughts on their overall view.

No joke on my part, dude: you really frighten me. I do not look forward to the time when you can vote. |
Now this fills me with a mixture of worry and distaste. How can what was in fact added just because I was thinking of a way to comment on the Republican nomination, but avoid getting deep into policies. Evidently, I failed and now you've got a view of me as a thoughtless, shallow person. Needless to say that assumption is wrong on your part and I've come out of this thinking much less of you than I have previously. _________________

Indeed it is. I'd always assumed this was why we didn't get into political discussions... _________________
