|
|
Okay, here is my fourth review, of the Assassin Droids Battlepack.
Parts
This battlepack was not made for its parts. However, it has many good ones. One piece that greatly intrigues me is the piece that makes up the back tail fin. The light bley part of that piece is made of rubber. There is also a lot of the color blue, which is rare inside the Star Wars line.
Minifigs
Now this is why you would buy this set! It comes with three Assassin Droids, and two "Assassin Droid Elites." The "regular" (silver) Assassin Droids are chrome, and as far as I know, the same as IG-88 from the 10188 Death Star. The "Elite" (black) Assassin Droids are not chrome, but they do look amazingly cool in black. Almost as cool as this smiley:
Detail
The detail is not bad for a battlepack ship. However, it is not good compared to other ships. There's not much more to say.
Playability
One thing to say about the speeder: Hello, swooshability! Seriously, the speeder is amazingly swooshable. As soon as I finished it, I swooshed it all the way around my house. The Assassin Droids are good for battle scenes.
Price to Parts
This is actually a good ratio. That surprises me seeing how there are five minifigs. Really nice!
Availability
These are just now appearing in stores. However, Toys r Us was stocked full of them.
Overall
Very nice battlepack. Also a cheap way to get an "IG-88."
Ratings
Parts: 8/10 - Lots of rare parts in this small set.
Minifigs: 9/10 - FIVE Assassin Droids! And you can pretend that one of the silver ones is IG-88.
Detail: 6/10 - Not horrible, but it is a battlepack.
Playability: 9/10 - Very swooshable speeder!
Price to Parts: 10/10 - A very good price, plus FIVE minifigs.
Availability: 8/10 - Just starting to appear, but there are lots of them in stores.
Overall: 9/10 - This serves its purpose properly, and has FIVE minifigs.[/url] _________________ Am I the only one who sometimes comes here, logs in, and fools around?

Yeah, that piece with a rubbery tip is from the Exo Force sets. _________________

I'll try, but I need to get a Brickshelf, plus I'm not sure if I have a camera where I'm at. I'll have to ask my mom, but maybe. _________________ Am I the only one who sometimes comes here, logs in, and fools around?

Does it happen to come with an extra silver arm that can hold a blaster? I'm sure a lot of people are hoping to be able to switch out the arms on their IG-88's from the Slave 1 set of '06. |

When I saw my extra pieces I didn't see one but I could be wrong. Though an extra straight arm would be excellent, giving sway to four IG droids and two Elites.
I posted a review of this set on the CABG, and here are some of the pics I took from Flickr:

Hope you don't mind. |

So I got the Assassin Droid battle pack last night, saw that it had the extra inverted arm, put it on my old IG-88, and then this morning my dog somehow got into my lego room and choose to eat that very inverted arm (as well as the long blaster) off of my old IG-88. All the droids were out on the floor and she somehow decided to eat that very arm off that very droid. :D. Anyway, I guess I'll have to just pick up another battle pack now for another extra arm. |

I picked one of these up yesterday, and was actually fairly impressed. While the droids aren't all that special (I felt the same way about IG-88 though), the vehicle is pretty interesting. Though I don't need any more of those long slopes, like TK mentioned, the back tail fins are interesting. Don informed me they had appeared in Exo-Force sets before, but only in odd colors. Something about them, and the dark blue slopes, makes this an accent pack. Not a bad little set for the value. _________________ Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe. - Albert Einstein |

I got two of these when I got the clone walker pack, an I think its great value for the money.
You're right, very swooshable...
And the black assassin droids fit in well with the Durge episode of the original Clone wars series (the jousting droids vs stromtrooper Obiwan...)
All in all well worth it. Ill pick up a few more. |
