Check out this announcement for the new Alderaan playset:

http://www.bbspot.com/News/2008/08/star-wars-lego-alderaan.html

At only $649 for over 20,000 parts, it practically looks like a steal. I'm totally getting this to enter the contest, I've never been to the Death Star before. Very Happy

Only about 3 cents a piece!! Lets hope LEGO prices all their sets this way. Wink

Awesome! New pieces. I can't wait to see how the MOCers use them.

Unfortunately not. That would have been great. Maybe also not have the size and piece-count quite so over the top...

I was actually beileving the story, until is said it comes pre made in the box, I was like. Wahhh?! Confused But ya, pretty funny. If they took out the death star trip and the lowered the piece count, that would have been kind of beilevable Razz

20,000 pieces made me an unbeliever. Plus the fact that Alderaan, is, well, Alderaan. Nothing special about that.

I agree with Andi, this would have been a really hilarious April's Fool joke Laughing

But now, G people have really fun ideas, too bad the timing is not fantastic. Also people do have a lot of free time on their hands Wink

I pretty much figured it was a joke when i had read about it all ready
assembled in the box, plus it having 20,000 bricks.

A model of a planet that is seen for 10 seconds and then Ka-Boom. It is obviously fake, or TLG has just too much time on their hands.

Yeah, they definitely shouldn't have the time it takes to create a Lego set.

The article is so ridiculous, it's hard to take it seriously unless you're not reading carefully enough.

A LEGO globe would be a neat set idea (Earth, not stupid Alderaan,) but this is so dumb. TLG encouraging people to smash a $600 set? Really? Wink

No kidding, they say a 12 year old idiot is going to drop a $600 lego sphere off a 10 story building? Someone punch that kid in the face.

I'm a bit confused.
I thought LEGO's headquarters and the Death Star were one and the same. Surprised

Mike, stop being mean to the members.

It is a real set, donneyboy, but it's only available for pre-order on Lego's website. Apparently on the 28th, it's on sale for just $200 Shocked . So just look out for the deals on this great set then! Smile
