Lego s@h shows only the robin/penguin set as avail. Jokers Surprise, Harley's Hammer Truck and Mr Freeze/ Batman set all show sold out!

I will assume the Batman License is over and Lego only made enough to last through 2008. At least make enough to last throgh the Holidays!

Toy's R Us and Target have bare shelves nothing avail online.

What gives with a hit video game and no product?

Remember, when you assume, you make an patootie of you and me. Rolling Eyes

Sets sell out fairly frequently on S@H. When that happens, it usually means LEGO is building up a bit of a stockpile before shipping them out again. You mention the holidays coming up. Odds are, they want to build up enough stock to get them through them. Sure, LEGO could be cancelling the line, but that's not the assumption I would jump to. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

This thread should probably be moved to the Buy/Sell/Trade/Finds forum, but things as they are...

Boscov's still has the Harley Quinn truck (7886) and Robin's Scuba Jet (7885) available. They also have a free shipping on orders of $50 or more and 10% orders of $100 more deal that ends after today. I know it's late in the game to be pointing out the Boscov's deal, but there aren't any Batman sets in the new LEGO S@H holiday catalog, so it might be a good idea to get 'em while you can. 7888 Tumbler appears to be sold out everywhere.

The Tumbler can still be found (and overpriced) at many TRU stores.

Well, the 15% off coupon Morgan linked to should compensate for the mark-up, if one was so inclined. But that's only good through tomorrow.

That is true, but the set just doesn't interest me. I was providing the information so that other people who haven't yet picked up the Tumbler set would have another place to look besides eBay.

And likewise, I was providing information to those you might have scared off with your "overpriced" comment. Wink

It shouldn't be news to anybody that LEGO is overpriced at TRU.

That said, I agree that Batman seems to be on the way out. It's sad, because I was hoping that the 60s tv show Batmobile would be made into a set.

When the license was announced, was it ever specified how long it would last? Anyone? It's pretty unusual for [a release wave in] a licensed theme to turn around so quickly (less than a year) unless A. they're store exclusives (batcopter/tank), B. they're not selling (Avatar), or C. the license is up (HP).

The batman license is related to the harry potter license through warner brothers as far as I understand it. Of course the only thing they made with harry potter was the castle. I don't recall any public notice on when the license expired.

I was under the impression that Warner Bros. was encouraged to extend the Batman license to LEGO because of the relationship they'd developed while working on the Harry Potter line, but I understood the licenses to be separate.

HP's been around since 2001, and they've made a lot more than just the castle. Of course, during the last year of the liscense, they just made the castle for OotP. It was a fantastic set, wish they had done more for the movie. Confused

Well, the last castle is what I meant. Even before that there were so few sets for goblet of fire.

Given the video game, I was expecting them to at least continue for another year. I wish they would, there is so much they haven't gotten to.

I don't know, but isn't that pretty much what happened with the first Batman wave? It was completely gone for a while before they made the most recent sets; this isn't the first time all the Batman sets have been sold out from LEGO itself, yet the line came back...

I'm not professing to know anything; I'm entirely curious. I'd really like to know...

True, true. While the first wave of Batman sets didn't seem to turn around quite as lightning quick as this most recent one, it did go fast. The Bat-Tank and Batcopter were in and out of stores fast, but at the time it seemed like they were TRU exclusives or maybe retailer requested one-offs. I guess it's time to get it in our heads that the Batman line, should it continue, will have waves with consistently short lifespans at retail.

no keychains, no magnets, no sets? nothing at retail or S@H for the holidays? Nothing in holiday catalogs.

Can Greg explain that to me? because if i had a Lego license for Batman then I would have everything available for the busiest time of the year for Lego.

I imagine that even if he wanted to, he couldn't. Time will tell. Hints have been dropped. I wouldn't get your undergarments twisted over it.

I agree with Draykov. I feel confident from the hints that this great theme will continue. There are a bunch of characters from the game that I hope we get before the license expires. I wouldn't mind seeing it branch out into other DC heroes either.
