Hi again everyone.

Finally I have some time to myself to build, take some pictures and post something new! Smile

First up the BTL-B Republic Y-Wing Fighter. I have managed to get the shape of the front section using hinge plates. The only drawback of this technique is the way I have had to build the cockpit but sometimes compromises need to be made. Wink I also quite like the use of the minifig arms on the front for the guns. Cool Because of the use of the hinge plates I have had to use 1x1 brackets to attach the engines otherwise the body of the ship would just have been too thick.

Anyway enough waffle, here is the model:-

After building the Republic Y-Wing I decided to go back and rebuild my OT Y-Wing. I wanted both models to have the same dimensions.

I had to lengthen the body and add an extra brick to the engines. This posed a problem - due to the fact that the engines are attached by a clip plate to the body a gap was left between the two bricks. I solved this by slotting in some 1x1 tiles! This works as they are the old style round bricks without the support struts. Cool

And here is a comparison shot of the two Y-Wings. Father and Son if you like. Very Happy

It's funny how similar the two models look considering different techniques were used to build both!

Hope you like them. Confused

More soon.

Jon

They are both very good. I like the hands as guns(my favorite piece), and the resourceful use of the 1x1 tile. You really captured the engines well on the republic y-wing, it looks just like them. Again some cool minis.

Great work on the Republic y-wing.

Looks great.

I was sort'a anti the new y-wing for the Clone Wars series but after seeing it in action I find it's really a neat ship.

Both look really sleak; the hands work very nicely and, as usual you have really captured the shape well.

Very good Jonathan!

I like the new Y-Wing prototype. I was not even aware of this ship, until I figured out it's in a web comic and also in the the TV series as well as a series of DarkHorse comics which both haven't found their way to this part of the world yet. Wink

Cheers,

~ Chris
