Hey guys,
Thanks for the ideas, I appreciate them. Right now I am taking things a bit easy. After a hectic last couple of months I need a bit of a break for desiging.

I have thought about doing castle robes etc. But since I'm not really into castle stuff I just haven't really bothered. I might have a little chat with Blasterman and see if he minds me borrowing some of his ideas.

I'm not promising anything, but I'll keep you all posted if I do decide to make something like them (especially since alot of people have asked me about these designs).

Cheers,
MMCB

PostPosted: Sun Nov 12, 2006 4:29 pm    Post subject: Cloth Holster Reply with quote

I checked the thread and didnt see anything on it. I thought this would be a good place to post.

I saw on eBay the other day someone selling cloth holsters that fit over the leg pegs. I know that it is possible to acheive this with some styrene and a lego brick but I thought the cloth method had merit as well.

Does anyone know where I can find pictures of the eBay holster?

AND....

Are you thinking of doing this MMCB?

Thanks.

I have seen those dino.
I just checked ebay again and the items no longer exist.

As for whether or not I will be doing this.............honestly I don't know. At the moment I have no plans for making any new pieces. I'm currently working on getting orders filled ( Wink Embarassed ), organising my current templates so I can get them professionally laser cut, working on a website, plus a million other things. We'll just have to wait and see what next year brings us Confused

I have an idea. Would you consider making a combination of your Jedi tunic and your waist cape, for a resulting Knights of the Old Republic Jedi robe? Sure people could just buy the items I mentioned, but the two layers of cloth interferes with Minifig compliance to stay together. Anyway just an idea.

I think I know what you mean Scitvs. Do you mean to create the effect seen on the CW Obi-Wan in armour:

Yeah, that's roughly the effect. If you've never played Knights of the Old Republic it's hard to explain/ show a picture of what I mean. But for all intensive purposes the General Kenobi picture resembles the effect.

Mark, I have a question.
Do your robes/capes work with clay? As in baking the clay and adding it to the cape with glue? It would shure help for an upcoming project of mine.
Kind regards.

NJM, To be honest I haven't tried it!! Never really had the need. However, if the piece is already baked/hardened/painted (ie finished off), I don't see why it wouldn't stick to the cloth with a bit of craft glue.

Send me an email with your thoughts and I'll see if I can work something out for you Wink

PS: I have thought of using plasticard to make some other accessories and attach them in a similar manner.

I use (LEGO technic) rubber bands for that, but they don't allow free arm movement. A cloth replacement would be nice.

The biggest problem is working out a way to actually attach it to a weapon. Not to mention, do I design one solely for each type of weapon out there (LA variants, BrickArms variants, Lego variants, custom lego variants, etc). Plus, how long do I make them, various lengths for numerous ways it could be worn?

But yeah, making it easy to attach to a weapon AND making it look good is what makes it hard Wink

I've always wanted to see a cape that doesn't attach to the neck but in the little arm sockets or looped around the arms.
I've actually tried the arm socket thing but haven't had time to work it out. Confused

Also, a rifle sheath would be cool. Smile

I actually did look at those before I posted. Smile

I mean in essence a classic style(speaking non lego for a moment)
that kinda hangs off the shoulder.
I'll do up a drawing of what I'm thinking if I have time(couldn't find any good pics). ::D:
