http://www.podbrix.com/

Sure looks like a LEGO minifig to me, but I don't see any mention of LEGO. Isn't this illegal?

$16??? Shocked I can make my own for free. Razz

He mentions it in his website:

Quote:
How are the PodBrix minifigs created?

Tomi Responds:
I start with a Lego brand minifig and modify it by hand to create the desired appearance. Each one is slightly different.

Probably infringes on LEGO's copyright, but I don't really know. Confused

That ROCKS. Wish I could afford to drop $16.99 on a single minifig.

I don't see why it matters if it's Lego or not. It's the same as Brickmodder or anybody else selling custom figs. Except these are all black and have an iPod. So what?

I think the real inspiration is that the guy managed to sell these out 300 of these minifigs at $17 a pop in one day. Currently listed as Out of Stock.

Ya, nice idea for a minifig but selling them for $17 is the gravy train rollin' in. Why can't I come up with good money-making ideas?

This is hilarious. It's an ingenious product and appears to be a raking in a rediculous profit. I've got a "real" iPod, so it would be cool to have one of these "just cuz". I'm just not sure I could justify $17, though...

Yeah, this is just as legal as any other customizer selling their goodies, but very crafty... Cool

$17 x 300 = $5100 Shocked

OK, yeah, cost of time, bricks, paint, stickersheet, little plastic headphones and a snazy website... maybe $500... but still nowhere near $5100 Mad This guy (or gal) is smart.

DonSolo, that pic was great.
And, i think the real question besides "Is this legal?" is:
"Is this cool? At all?"

Ah.
Hip.
Nothin like being associated with a body part often replaced in the elderly.
