Does the new un-shiny chrome come off as easily as the shiny type?

Is the new chrome more matte?

The new chrome is not as reflective as the old one, and this new one seems to have a grainier quality, like spray paint. Gives it a "brushed steel" look. Personally, I don't like it. The chrome firefighter helmet I got in the Fire Truck set was already scratched all over fresh out of the package. I've heard other people say it scratches off easily as well.

The new chrome wedges I have (from the 8647 Night Racer) had a few small scratches on the top edges when I got the set. It doesn't look like it'll come off easily, but I think that if it gets banged around alot (like if you leave it in a parts bin), it might.

I got the Night Racer as well, but I lucked out and got pieces that didn't have any scratches yet. Smile

The color does scratch with some work, but it's not THAT bad. Could be better, of course, but still.

BTW, has it been confirmed that this really is the new chrome? Somehow I doubt it is.

I think it is, since the old chrome isn't showing up on the new chrome pieces, and I doubt Lego would add another color (a variant of chrome especially) when they're cutting back on colors.
